Lecture by Rev Matthew Wright
Matthew completed his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Theology degrees at the University of
KwaZulu Natal, Pietermaritzburg, after which he entered the ordained ministry in the Anglican
Diocese of Natal. Serving as a parish priest there in two parishes over a span of six years he then
relocated to Johannesburg where he is currently serving as an assistant priest in the parish of St
Michael’s, Bryanston. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Biblical Studies again through the
University of KwaZulu Natal.
Matthew recently worked on an archaeological dig site in Israel, known as Megiddo. This work was
partly aligned to his current research interests. The presentation he will be giving therefore is in
part a general introduction to Megiddo as a dig site, some of its history and biblical significance, as
well as an introduction to the field of archaeology
