John 1:14. Jesus took on flesh and dwelt among his people

Hebrew 2:14-15. Jesus demonstrates his great love for us by taking on our humanity.

1 Samuel 17:1-58. David shows himself to be God’s anointed servant when he responds to a pagan threat to God’s people.

1 Samuel 16:1-23. David is anointed as king in place of Saul, yet he must still wait until God’s time before he can take the throne.

Luke 7:11-17. Jesus’ work of resurrecting the widow’s son gives believers today enouragement and hope.

Romans 8:31. A proper understanding of what Paul is referring to at the beginning of the verse leads to greater comfort from the promise made at the end of the verse.

1 Samuel 13:23-14:52. Jonathan demonstrates consistent faithfulness in believing God’s promise. Saul is consistent only in his own foolishness. God is fulfilling his Samuel’s words of warning about the kingship.

1 Cor 1:26-27 – There is no room for boasting for the Christian.  God uses the foolish things to shame the wise.

1 Samuel 13 – Israel’s in trouble with the Philistines. Saul faces a definitive moment. Will Saul trust the Lord? Will we?

Philippians 1:6 – Christians can be assured: He who began a work in us WILL bring it to completion.
