As Fr. Guy continues his Lenten homily theme: a retreat with Jesus, today he focuses in on motivation as why struggle through the desert for 40 days.  Jesus always meets us where we are, but he loves us too much to simply leave us there.  We are called to perfection, holiness, and sainthood.  This is only possible through union with Jesus Christ.  Today's Gospel is on the Transfiguration.  Listen in and be transformed this Lent.

This homily is from the 10th Annual Men's Lenten Prayer Breakfast Mass.  Fr. Guy starts off and lets us know that one of the most frustrating things he encounters as a priest, is lack of commitment.  Listen how Fr. Guy explains that Christ uses struggle to shape us, and we ought persevere.  Another clear message from this homily is that God calls us to holiness.  The world will tell you that "you are fine, don't change yourself, there's nothing wrong with you."  In today's Gospel, Jesus says: "Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect."

Lent is Fr. Guy's favorite season.  During Lent, he tries to have a theme for the homilies.  This Lent, the theme is "A retreat with Jesus".  This week, Fr. Guy focuses on AWARENESS.  The devil uses the same tactics throughout the ages, but be aware that the devil has no control over our will.  The devil can only tempt us, and typically in these three ways: doubt, power in passing things, recklessness.  Listen in!

Where are you planted?  The prophet Jeremiah tells us today that you are either blessed or cursed.  Listen to the homily from Fr. Guy from the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  We typically rely first on our resources, then as a last resort: God.  Jesus tells us in the beatitudes today: the poor, the hungry, the mourning are blessed now because they rely on God first, because that is all they have.
