Mike Morecroft is Head of Climate Change Science at Natural England, the government conservation agency for England. He’s also a Visiting Professor at the University of Reading and President of the John Ray Initiative, which seeks to bring to together science and the Christian faith in addressing environmental issues.
Mike is an ecologist by background and over the course of his career, has worked on climate change in different contexts from monitoring impacts through to developing approaches to adaptation and mitigation. in the natural environment. In his present role he advises the UK government and works with conservationists, foresters and farmers as well as developing and reviewing science. He was a Lead Author for the most recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on impacts and adaptation.
Mike has been a committed Christian since his teens and studied biblical and theological studies part-time at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford. He lives in the small town of Hungerford, with his wife and sons and is a Licensed Lay Minister (preacher) in the local church.
