Vicar Shick - Notice that it says “work out your salvation” not “work for your salvation.” Your salvation is a good work that God began in you and will bring to completion in the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Last Day, when he comes again in glory (Philippians 1:6). Between the beginning and the end keep working out your salvation. The picture that comes to mind is a fitness training plan. For our bodies to stay healthy we know that we have to eat right, exercise, and rest. Well, what’s good for the body is good for the soul! Joyful Obedience brings gladness and rejoicing (Philippians 2:17-18).
