God speaks in the silence. Only when we are truly silent, not just outwardly but inwardly can we begin to hear His voice. In this New Year may the Lord grant us to learn the gift of silence so that we may draw nearer to Him.

The Christian walk is not easy, yet God has given us a simple way to be healed of our infirmities. Repentance. The hardest and also the simplest thing that we can possibly do in our faith is to turn from our ways and face our Lord again. It is through repentance that we have, are and will be saved.

The fig tree symbolises the Jewish nation, which was given so much by God—His law, His presence, His promises—yet failed to bear fruit. In this image, Christ calls us to reflect: Are we like that fig tree? Are we, too, receiving so much from God, yet not producing spiritual fruit? Let us not take His grace for granted, but strive to live lives worthy of His calling.

Christ speaks to us in parables, gently revealing the mysteries of the Kingdom of God in a way that touches the heart, stirs the soul, and invites us to deeper understanding and repentance.
