On Covenant Thursday, HG Bishop Daniel reflects on three effects of the Blood of Christ from John 6: abiding in Him, receiving true spiritual life, and gaining eternal life through Holy Communion.

Are you an expecting Christian or an anticipating Christian? What's the difference?

Christ’s humility is constantly shown this week. We see Him on the cross, the highest level of humility and the day before, we see Christ’s humility in washing His disciples’ feet, a role that is normally done by servants or gentile slaves. Humility is the key.

Fr David then takes us through Christ’s encounter with the guards in the garden - where they fall when they hear Christ say “I Am”. He was willing to still be arrested and crucified instead of using His power. Christ is willing to be a slave for us. He has the power to change all things, but He chose to die for us.

On the day of Judas’ betrayal, we see that being chosen isn’t the same as living faithfully. While Judas was one of the twelve, the woman with the alabaster flask shows what it means to truly live as the beloved—through sacrifice and wholehearted offering.

On this day, we join the crowds in Jerusalem crying out, “Hosanna in the highest! Son of David, save us!” They welcomed Christ as King with palm branches and praise but they did not yet understand the kind of salvation He came to bring. Not a political victory, but a sacrifice; not earthly power, but the Cross. As we enter Holy Week, the question for us is simple: do we truly mean “save us,” and are we ready to receive Him as He is the humble King who saves through love and sacrifice?

When Judas sees Mary anoint Jesus’ feet with expensive oil, he asks a legitimate question, would not this money be better spent on the poor? While this question sounded smoother than oil, his intentions were flawed. Fr Michael teaches us to strive to make our intentions pure and honest in the sight of our Lord.

On the eve of Thursday, Fr Mark compels us to ask the question this Holy Week - who do I choose to be like? Judas or Mary?

Are we anticipating the coming of Christ? Does the thought of His imminent coming bring us joy or fear?

To be like those who await their master's coming is anticipation

If we are always anticipating His coming, then when He comes, we will open for Him immediately.
