Happy Advent

Hello St. Mary Magdalene,

Thank you for your prayers during my quarantine. I'm back and feeling great. I've been cleared of all symptoms and have negative tests.

Today marks a special shift in our liturgy and Advent preparations with what's called the "O Antiphons" found in the 7 verses of the hymn "O Come, O Come Emmanuel." These 7 antiphons speak to 7 prophecies fulfilled in Christ from the Old Testament and the Church focuses on these specifically by using them in the liturgy to further build our expectant joy at the coming of the Messiah! "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" is one of my favorite hymns, I pray with it regularly throughout Advent as a beautiful reminder that God is here with us and that He has not (nor will He ever) leave us!

Sanctuary Update!

Hello St. Mary Magdalene,

Great news, we've received our notice to proceed on our sanctuary renovations! This does mean though that our construction start date has been pushed out to mid-March 2022.

Also, you can see a sample of the marble that will be installed during our renovations! Enjoy the sneak peek.

As you can see I'm excited and delighted to share today's update.

I pray that this Thanksgiving weekend is a good one, an opportunity to give thanks to God for all His abundant blessings!

Meet Mary the Mystic Rose apostolate

Hello St. Mary Magdalene,

Have you noticed the flowers in our church? Meet the group that makes that happen! Today I'm joined by Ann Marie Sabbs the coordinator of Mary the Mystic Rose group at St. Mary Magdalene. They arrange, maintain, and replace the flowers in our sanctuary, adoration chapel, and votive statues and they need help! If you'd like to volunteer with them contact [email protected] or call the parish office. Additionally, you can also donate online or in person by noting "flowers" in the memo/note section.

Welcome Fr. Arthur Nave to St. Mary Magdalene!

Hello St. Mary Magdalene,

Today Fr. Arthur, our new priest in residence, joins me to say hello and to share about his vocation story and his continuing work with DPS. He'll be rotating through the various Masses in the weeks to come so make sure to come and say hello when you see him.
