The Disciples asked the Lord to teach them how to pray. Those words are said by Christians every day throughout the world. What does the Lord's Prayer mean for us?

In this Sunday's Gospel we meet Mary and Martha who have welcomed the Lord into their house. Martha complains that her sister is sitting at His feet to listen and doing no work at all. What does this tell us about our lives as Disciples in a world which get only ever busier?

Jesus gives the famous parable of the Good Samaritan when a lawyer asks "who is my neighbour?". In answering this, Jesus reveals that He alone is the source of authority to declare what is right and what is wrong. How are we to respond to His mighty word?

In the Gospel today we hear how Our Lord sent out His disciples to share by word and deed the news that the Kingdom of God was amongst them. How are we sent like them and how can we share our faith today?

Jesus challenges His Disciples to look to the provision and power of God when He tells them to give the hungry on the hillside something to eat. How can they do this? With just five loaves and two fish?

On the night before Jesus was betrayed He prayed that all who follow Him would be one just as He and the Father are one. This is a great and scandalous mystery - sinful and frail as we are, we in Christ are united to God.

Our Lord ascends into Heaven not to leave us abandoned but to be closer to us than we could ever imagine.

In this Sunday's Gospel Jesus promises the coming of the Holy Spirit. How does the Holy Spirit help us in our faith and help us to grow, not only in our individual understanding but in the life of the whole church?
