Reading: Romans 16:1-27

 Paul sends greetings to many persons who in various ways have supported the work of the Good News. He asks them to partner with him in further work beyond Rome.  This a list of people who share the solidarity of union in Christ. We too need others to partner with others to share the Really Good News.

Reading: Romans 14:1 to 15:13

Circumstances in the Early Church in Rome brought about a community of different backgrounds in the church at Rome.  This resulted in disagreements about practical matters in the community, such as what to eat or drink. Paul writes to them telling them to act in  love toward the weaker brother, reminding them that they are not the judge.  We can learn from the example of Jesus.

20251109 6PMp IB Romans 13 Obeying the Authorities

How to live as a Christian.  How to respond to Governments, living a different life. How to live in a loving way. And, are we ready for that (last) day? We take much for granted.  The governments provide many important things in our lives. God is sovereign. We have to think through, biblically.  Churches and governments historically have worked either together, or against each other. 

Think about the system we have.  We need to think through what place the authorities have I our lives.  How do we consider this passage? What is St Paul saying to us? The heart of the Christian message is love another.

Reading: Romans 12

What is good news?  We get examples in the news media, but sometimes it is not good news for most people.  The world needs really good news.  What is Really Good News? The bible gives examples of practical Christian Living in a fallen world. This shows itself as the fruit of the Spirit, each with different gifts, serving one another. Paul encourages each to use their gifts well, serving others.

20251026 6PMp DT God’s Mercy toward his people

Bible Reading: Romans 11:1-36

God is gracious to his people, firstly the Gentiles, but also to the Jews who believe. God has not rejected his own people. Paul, himself, is a Jew who has received the Grace of God by faith in Jesus. Those Gentiles who are saved through faith in Jesus ought not to be proud, but to realise that, like an olive tree, branches may be cut off or grafted in.

20251019 6PMp JB God’s Plan for his people.

Bible Reading: Romans chapter 9v30 to ch10v21.

What and Who can we trust?  When doing a “Bungee Jump” we would need to trust in the Bungee cord and the people who test them.  When considering our whole life, where do we place our trust?

Paul explained that the Jewish people had placed their trust in the Law and their keeping of the Law which they were unable to fully do.  We too can misplace our trust. We may put it in ourselves and in our attempts to live “fully righteous lives”. Whereas, we need to hear the good news, and put our trust in Jesus,  the LORD, (Yahweh).  All people need to hear, they need someone to tell them, they need people who will go, who will tell them, so that they can call on the name of the LORD.

Reading: Romans 9: 1-29.

The early church was a community of many different people and backgrounds, Jews and Gentiles who were brought together through their belief and faith in God and in Jesus who was crucified on the cross, died and rose again.  Paul explains how God has been gathering his people, from the time of Abraham, Moses and Jesus. His people God has been true to his Word, to his promises and to his people.
