A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: We remember Constantine the Great and his mother, Helena, today. Constantine made Christianity an accepted religion in the empire and later assembled the Council of Nicaea, which articulated the doctrine of the Trinity. Helena traveled to the Holy Land and located a number of sites associated with Christ's life, particularly His birth and death and had churches built at those locations. Their influence on Christianity is astounding and we thank God for their faithful work and legacy.

What's in a Name?Zacchaeus ("Pure")

A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: On this Ascension Day, we rejoice in our Lord's ascension to His Father's throne. The first disciples did, too, as Luke reminds us: "Then He led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up His hands He blessed them. While He blessed them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy...." (Luke 24:50-52). Although Jesus is no longer visible to us, we rejoice in HIs promises and blessings of forgiveness, life, and salvation and especially in HIs promised Holy Spirit.
