Jesus liberated a man possessed by demons and restored him back into a community that had lost their way too. Jesus doesn't give up on them or us. Jesus is our redeemer and the antidote to the soul sickness called sin.

As I prepare for my upcoming renewal trip, I look forward to encountering God in wild spaces, particularly in our National Parks. All of God (Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer) is everywhere, and God builds holy rest into creation itself.

The Ascension can make it seem as though Jesus is nowhere to be found. However, it is quite the opposite, as Jesus is now here, and in all things, if we take the time to look around and not just up.

We are called to love one another and to listen and follow where the Spirit leads without hindering God’s expansive love. A love that moves through the world in all times and places, especially in the shadow of empire, hate, and wars.

This Sunday we consider the image of God as both our shepherd as well as Paschal Lamb. God meets us in the midst of our suffering to claim victory over death, offering a new way of living through "Lamb Power."

Even in resurrection, Jesus chooses to draw close and reveal himself to the disciples through a shared meal, this time a seaside breakfast. Breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day, as the disciples are nourished and sent.

The same love that moved through Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, moved through walls and locked doors, transforming the disciples into apostles, and it is the same love that will help us move through our fear too.

Easter is about starting over with a new way of living. Sometimes we cling to the past, but change is a vital and essential aspect of experiencing life to the fullest. This is certainly true when it comes to living a resurrected life.

In the thick of religious and political conspiracy and reactionary outcry among the crowd, Jesus remains steady amid all that unfolds, an orienting Divine force among the lies, chaos, and misbegotten perceptions of power and control.
