God has already heard the injustice and already judged it, so his people neither join it nor avenge it, but wait for him to make it right.

James takes us to two places we don't usually think of as dangerous: the words we say about other people, and the plans we make for our own future. In both, he catches something subtle. Not open rebellion against God, but a quiet swap where we start acting like we hold the authority, the knowledge, or the timeline that actually belongs to him.

This week, don't just ask why you said what you said. Ask what it revealed about what's filling your heart, and bring that honestly to Jesus.

Your words are not the source. They're the overflow, and Jesus wants to become what fills you.

“Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” (James 1:22, CSB)

James draws a sharp line between trials and temptation. God uses pressure to grow us. Temptation tries to pull us away from Him, and confusing the two leaves us misreading both our struggles and our God.
