Continuing our series on prayer, we move on to the concept of a core group of friends or mentors that can support us and also help to keep us accountable -- or more accurately, help us maintain our own sense of accountability. [ Organ/Choir - Lent 2 ]

When old translations of the Bible talk about the closet, they are talking about a private room where you can be undisturbed. So what three things can we learn about effective private prayer time? [ Organ/Choir - Lent 1 ]

Moses had to veil his face after he had seen the glory of the Lord, for the Israelites were fearful when they saw how radiant he was. Jesus' disciples were also afraid when they saw Jesus transfigured, or unveiled. Yet Jesus' whole incarnation is about giving God a face to which we can relate. It is about removing the veil, and allowing mutual revelation and intimacy to grow. [ Organ/Choir - Epiphany 5 ]

Is prophecy something that stopped when the Bible was written down? Or is it a spiritual gift offered to us today? [ Organ/Choir - Epiphany 4 ]

On the surface, the story of Jesus' first miracle, turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana, is a very familiar one. But this is the Gospel of John, which means that there are fascinating layers of symbols to be unwrapped. [ Organ - Epiphany 2 ]

When Jesus was baptised, he saw the heavens opened. What does an open heaven mean to us? First, God grants us a new identity, a kingdom identity. This identity will be challenged, but it is there for us. Second, this identity means that God's Spirit dwells in us. Third, an open heaven with the Spirit descending means new opportunities to help advance God's kingdom.

At Epiphany, the church reflects on the global nature of its message. Just as the first people to worship Jesus were the Magi (definitely outsiders as far as devout Jews were concerned), so the world has come to hear the good news. [ Organ - Epiphany ]

As shown by his time in the Temple at age 12, Jesus spent his life in his Father's business, and now has handed it on to those who choose to follow him. [ Organ - Christmas 1 ]

There are many different things we think we are "born to", things we love to do. Christians, perhaps, are born to celerbrate, to leap for joy along with the infant John as his Lord approached. We may find this joy in the hearing of God's word. We celebrate in the power of the Spirit. And we may rejoice to share with others the good news of God in human form, come among us to call us home to him. [ Organ/Choir - Advent 4 ]
