Opening up the parable of talents we think about all that God has entrusted us with and what we do with it as we consider "Are we ready to meet our Lord" and "are we ready to serve him in this place"?

Your boat is whatever keeps you so comfortable that you don't want to give it up even if it's keeping you from joining Jesus on the waves. Your boat is whatever pulls you away from the high adventure of extreme discipleship." (Ortberg. J. 2001. If you want to walk on water you've got to get out of the boat).

Jesus met a woman at a well and shared with her the ‘water of life’ that he could offer. Unlike actual water - which we need to drink constantly, Jesus offers ‘living water’ – hope and salvation that will never leave us and will quench our spiritual thirst in our day to day lives. This Samaritan women also realised that Jesus knew all about her past, and yet still met with her, and wanted to share his life with her too.
