Jesus as our priest is someone who speaks for us, sympathizes with us, and sacrifices for us.

The Book of James offers us a wisdom for life.

In this talk we explore what it means to truly welcome people and practice hospitality. This means to not show favoritism or partiality. God's love towards us is not predisposed on account of our actions or our looks, but on his unmerited grace towards us.

James 2:1-17

We worship God in Song, Scripture, Sacrament and Spirit. Our singing is a response to God's overtures of grace. Our reading of Scripture informs us of this God of Love. God meets us in the ordinary means of grace of preaching and the sacraments. His Holy Spirit enables us to worship him and offer a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving.

God meets our needs. He meets our needs from the most practical food, rest and shelter to the most intangible the spiritual and the emotional. Just as God restored Elijah physically and emotionally in the Sinai desert. God fed Elijah. God lead Elijah. What needs to you have physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually? Jesus wants to be the bread of heaven to you.

In our final talk in the series of the Lord's Prayer we explore what it means we ask God to "deliver us from evil." We are to avoid to equal and opposite errors either disbelieving in evil or in an unhealthy focusing on it.

We ask God to deliver us from "sin, the world, and the devil." We ask God to deliver us from the evil inside us, the evil around us, and the evil above us. We pray that he fill us with good inside us, good around us and good above us.

There are two things that are certain in life, we will face trials and God is good. When Jesus teaches us to pray "Lead us not into temptation," we acknowledge our frailty and his sovereignty. We admit how feeble we are and how he is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above and beyond we could ever ask or imagine.
