The real Christmas when truly believed brings the greatest consolation, peace, joy, and hope that surpasses all understanding. That is what the birth of Christ does.

Sermon based on Matthew 25:1-13

Most people today do not take this seriously. There are hints about such an event in some popular movies where the universe or some universe is about to be destroyed, but nothing like this judgment that has eternal consequences for each and every single human being.

Even though All Saints Day falls on November 1st (which was last Monday), we are celebrating it today and for good reason. It is an important Christian holy day because it grounds us in reality, encourages us, and it is designed to bring us great comfort.

Today we celebrate the Reformation. Specifically, the Lutheran Reformation of the 16th century. For this you and I must not apologize. We do not apologize because the truths rediscovered then are salvation truths and because they are not truths just for some, but for everyone

In today's text, the topic of war – the "struggle" – is front and center. This is not a war you can afford to lose. Eternal life and eternal death are in the balance. You need to be able to stand against the enemy, so you will win.
