John Hijatt is an inclusive practitioner of Northern Germanic paganism. He has been a part of the Druid and Heathen communities since 2006, currently serves on the board of The Troth (an international inclusive Heathen organization of which he has served as the acting president), and facilitates his local Heathen kindred.

In 2016, he started the Gifts of the Wyrd podcast with topics and interviews about inclusive Heathenry. He has worked with runes since 2009 and teaches workshops about their meanings, divination, and magickal use.

He has had articles published in journals printed by Ar nDraiocht Fein and The Troth as well as The Cartomancer magazine. He is currently working on a writing project for using runes in magickal practice.

Erika Robinson dispels some myths about Lenormand! In this episode of StaarCast Erika lets us know that Lenormand is more than a fluffy fortune-telling device. Like tarot, Lenormand is a tool of healing and introspection. Uniquely, Lenormand is a system of words.

Harlem, NYC raised, and Harvard educated, Erika Hageman Robinson’s life has taught her to welcome what is around every corner. While desegregating a private school for girls in 1964 at the age of 8, Erika learned that a good command of language was the best arrow in her quiver to bring adversaries either to her side or to their knees.

At Harvard, Erika parlayed her love of words into an A.B. in English Language and Literature. Feeling that she had been called to the Episcopal priesthood, Erika received a Master of Divinity Degree. The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts was less sure that they were ready for her to be a priest, and that led to yet another 90-degree turn, and stints as Assistant Director of Admissions at Saint Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, Princeton University, and Columbia University.

Around yet another corner were marriage, motherhood, and a thirty-year teaching career. There are turns within turns, and after her husband’s death in 2008, Erika discovered that there are also worlds beyond worlds. Now a Reiki Master teacher, Erika is a reader and teacher of Lenormand, whose thirty-six words combine in infinite ways to guide and warn, comfort, and heal.

For several years, Erika read at Earth Spirit New Age Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. Currently, she reads several times a month at Monmouth Beach Yoga and Wellness Center in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, and both teaches and reads via Zoom, phone, and email. Erika has been a speaker at Reader’s Studio in New York City, and has been featured at several World Divination Association conferences. Her writing can be found in Cartomancer Magazine, for which she is a regular columnist.

Many of us dream about designing a tarot deck. Claire Lily actually did it. In this poignant episode we see how Claire came to see a need for a new type of deck, and how she worked to fill that need.

Originally from England, now living in Illinois, Claire enjoyed success for over 20 years in the corporate world of Information Technology.

Claire grew up in a family that was open to spiritual realms. Her Mum was very much into astrology and crystals and was quiet about her own abilities that came out a little later. Claire had her birth chart written when she was 15 years old. Her Dad recalled being looked after by a psychic when he was a child who lived a couple of doors down from his home. Following Claire’s fascination of astrology and crystals, numerology and tarot quickly followed.

Over the past 30 years, Claire has consulted tarot readers, read for herself and friends, and decided to pursue her passion for the tarot by learning how to use the modality to help others. She enrolled in classes and courses, gaining certificates in reading the art of tarot from two tarot professionals. Now a professional tarot reader, along with her business experience, she formed her company Claire Lily (named after her Great Aunt who was her first remembered psychic experience) and has begun her dream of helping others combining her life experiences, intuitive abilities, and her cards.

Last year Claire was inspired to create a tarot deck that was image and word appropriate for her young nieces. Aunt Lily’s Tarot Deck is now a reality!

Mary Ellen Collins is a tarotist, astrologer, and a diviner who uses many tools. At StaarCon 2021 Mary Ellen presented “Astrology for Tarot Readers”. We are excited to welcome her back to StaarCon 2022, where she will give a presentation on creating and working with charm oracles.

She has been reading and teaching tarot for over a decade and also works with an oracle based on the ancient method of divination known as lithomancy; the Crystal Oracle. Mary Ellen teaches tarot and crystal workshops throughout South Florida and has presented workshops at tarot conferences nationally as well. Most recently she had become a novice astrologer to further her ability to serve as a messenger to others.

We were so excited to have Beverly Frable as a presenter at StaarCon 2021, where she gave an informative talk about the three primary styles of tarot.
