Today we’re talking about the stages of commitment.
Commitment is one of the three main ingredients in a strong relationship with yourself, so if you didn’t listen to last week’s episode, go back to Recipe for a Strong Relationship. I’ll link it below.
What’s interesting about commitment is that it doesn’t just show up all at once.
There are stages that build before you even realize you’re committed.
First is the curious stage.
This is when you hear about something for the first time. It’s casual. You’re thinking, “hmm, that’s interesting.”
Then comes the interest stage.
Now it’s more personal. You start thinking, “I’d like to do that.” You look into it, imagine what it would be like, and this is where desire grows.
Then comes the decision stage—this is the ALL IN moment.
It can feel impulsive, like you decided quickly, but you didn’t. You built up to it. This is where you decide: this is for me.
And finally, commitment.
This is where you keep going. Even when you don’t feel like it. Quitting is not an option.
Commitment doesn’t always feel exciting. Sometimes it feels simple. Sometimes it feels hard. But you stay with it.
What helps the most is revisiting the earlier stages.
Don’t wait until it feels hard.
Do a weekly check-in. Ask yourself:
Why was I interested in this?
What made me decide?
How do I want to show up this week?
And here’s the key—commitment grows with love, not pressure.
You don’t have to force it.
When you support yourself, commitment becomes easier to access.
