We see in the Christmas narrative of Matthew 2 that the arrival of the Messiah doesn't usher in an era of unbroken peace; rather, it introduces a tumultuous interplay of terror and tragedy. Yet, we will discover that in this chaos, Mary's journey exemplifies resilience and steadfast faith, showcasing how to carry the promise of Jesus through life's unpredictable seasons.

Jesus, the Prince of Peace, came to destroy the authority attached to chaos. He left his throne in heaven, to bring heaven near. He came to set into order everything that the fall set out of order. He set into motion the restoration of all things, but most importantly, he revealed the kingdom of God and offered humanity an invitation to return to God; destroying the power that the enemy held over humanity and bringing order to our chaos. He is God, restorer, deliverer and king. His life emanates power and love.

The abundant and eternal life God has for each one does not mean the absence of challenge but the presence of our Champion. Throughout life's trials and triumphs, God is continually revealing Himself and His nature to us. To experience—to know God—is eternal life; it is the abundance of life from within despite the circumstances we may be facing. May we accept the invitation to know God and allow His life that which sustains us.

In our final week of this series, Maurice helps us understand the Lovingkindness of God.
