"I must obey" are Nephi's last words in the Book of Mormon.
In this episode, Shelly Rowlan and I discuss three conflicts all of us face that sometimes make obedience challenging: Man vs. Self, Man vs. Man, and Man vs. Nature.
Then, using specific passages from Nephi's record, we unpack how Nephi faced and overcame these same challenges, and how we can emulate his example of obedience.
I had so many light bulb moments in this discussion, and I hope you will, too.

Do you ever struggle to hear answers to prayers?
Do the heavens sometimes feel silent, despite your desperate pleas?
Do you wonder if you are worthy or capable of receiving revelation?
In this episode, Kate and Lynnette discuss how they have learned to hear the Lord speaking to them, which is often different from what they expect. Using scriptures, quotes from Church leaders, and personal experiences, they teach specific places to look for God's answers, and how to discern them when they come.

There is SO much confusion in the world of parenting. It feels as if every "expert" is teaching something different.
As parents trying to raise righteous children, how do we know what expert to listen to?
If you have ever been confused about parenting, this episode is for you! It unpacks how God teaches His children to follow Him using the seemingly contradictory laws of justice and mercy. His example provides the perfect blueprint for all parents to follow.
Strategically implementing these two laws in our home when our kids were young and defiant changed the course of our parenting and, by extension, our lives. The results were nothing short of a MIRACLE!
Listen in for all the details.

If we are going to STAND with Jesus Christ in the confusing times in which we live, we MUST learn to identify and avoid voices that would pull us away from Him.
In this episode, Lynnette and Elise tackle this topic with the help of Nephi, Elder Bednar, and President Nelson, coupled with personal experiences, insights, and practical applications. Together, let's stand!

In 1979, President Spencer W. Kimball made a prophecy that we have been quoting ever since:
"Much of the major growth that is coming to the Church in the last days will come because many of the good women of the world … will be drawn to the Church in large numbers. This will happen to the degree that the women of the Church reflect righteousness and articulateness in their lives and to the degree that the women of the Church are seen as distinct and different—in happy ways—from the women of the world."
This episode explores what it means to be distinct and different "in happy ways," why joy is so important to the work of gathering, and how each of us can help fulfill this prophecy in our own unique way.
Together, let's joyfully STAND!

In this episode, you will meet my two daughters, 21-year-old Elise and 18-year-old Kate.
Elise and Kate will be helping me host the podcast from here on out, and this is your chance to get to know them.
Among other things, they share their thoughts on developing faith, challenges their generation faces in regard to faith (and how to tackle them), and what they want older generations to understand about them. They even have some amazing advice for parents whose kids are struggling with their faith.
They are wise beyond their years, and their faith inspires mine. I hope it will inspire you, too.

When I published my last episode in May of 2023, I did not anticipate a nine month break! But it happened...and we're finally back!
In this episode, I give an update on what has happened in the last nine months and what to expect moving forward ( plus a BIG announcement about my wonderful new co-hosts).
Then, using D&C 50:40-44 as a backdrop, I share some thoughts about navigating our confusing world by choosing to trust God instead of focusing on worry and/or fear.
Together, let's STAND!

The Lord has tasked the parents of this generation with a daunting and, frankly, terrifying task: to prepare their kids to greet the Savior when He comes again.
Before we can adequately prepare them, however, we must first believe in ourselves, our divinity, and our God-given charge to help raise His youth battalion.
We must cling to the truth that we are part of a marked generation, putting us among the ranks of God's most courageous, capable, and determined spirits.
And then, we must get to work.
If you've ever felt overwhelmed by this charge, you're not alone. Listen in for some encouragement and a preview of what's coming in the next season of this podcast.

When Adrian Groth left for college, she also left the Church. She married young, despite the Spirit's promptings to walk away from the relationship. That decision put her into a heartbreaking situation she knew she needed to leave but did not know how.
Eventually, when she found herself unexpectedly pregnant, Adrian came back to church. Through many difficult experiences, she learned to rely on the Savior.
In her subsequent quest to understand how she fit into God's plan as a woman, the Lord taught her the powerful truths surrounding the divine differences between men and women. She discovered how He feels about women, which provided a stark contrast to what the world teaches. This understanding changed her life.
If you have ever wondered how the Lord feels about His daughters, how they fit into His plan, or why men hold the Priesthood and women do not, this episode is for you.

In the weeks since General Conference, I have spent much time in prayer and self-reflection, especially concerning President Nelson's counsel to avoid contention. In light of my work in sharing my faith online, I have been asking, "Is it I? Am I contributing to the contention President Nelson warned us to avoid?"
My pondering has led me to the scriptures to study the life of the Savior, with particular attention to how He responded to criticism, mockery, and attempted provocation.
What I discovered changed how I view contention, particularly as it relates to teaching and standing for truth. It might change how you view it as well. Listen in for all the details.
