When the subject of giving to the Lord surfaces among God's people tales regarding personal and institutional mismanagement will soon follow. In Paul's usual style, he approaches the issue of giving at Corinth from the perspective of principles. You won't find any "giving rules" in this passage, but the careful reader will discover a fine complement of biblical principles to aid him as he seeks to lay up treasures in heaven. We hope you'll invest eighteen short minutes in this study, and, by the way, we won't be taking up an offering!

This lion (death) has no teeth! Paul's instruction concerning the rapture of the church of Jesus Christ is actually part of an ongoing discussion of the broader theme of our resurrection. As Paul continues to instruct us on the nature of the resurrection and the glorious hope it gives to each of us, we learn about this "mystery" of the rapture and the trumpet which will announce it. We'll discover why the "last trumpet" is a symbol of the rapture, how this trumpet differs from the Day of the Lord trumpets in Revelation and why this whole rapture discussion is presented with precise military terminology - and we'll do it all in a very non-technical way. Invest 12 minutes in this important consideration!

Folks can easily miss the point that the rapture of the church was a mystery which was initially taught by Christ and, later, expanded more fully by Paul. In the passage before us Paul treats the rapture in the context of the resurrection and reveals a mystery that others had not yet understood, namely: "We shall not all sleep..." Spend ten or eleven minutes with us as we differentiate between the rapture and the resurrection here in 1 Corinthians 15.
