Midwestern State won a thriller over Texas A&M-Kingsville at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night for its first victory of the season.

The Mustangs went on a 12-play, 76-yard touchdown drive and tied the game with a two-point conversion, 24-24, with 3:43 remaining. The MSU defense subsequently forced the Javelinas to punt after three plays from their own 28-yard line.

Jared Campbell's 41-yard punt was received by Cedonyae Lott at the Midwestern State 31-yard line. Christian Olige and James Cooper, Jr. threw two of the pivotal blocks that spung the speedy Lott for the game-winning 69-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Lott has been named the D2Football.com Special Teams Player of the Week, and the Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

It took several special plays for the Mustangs to defeat the Javelinas, and now they look for back-to-back victories as they visit Sul Ross State on Saturday night.
