A renegade Vulcan makes Kirk (William Shatner), Spock (Leonard Nimoy), McCoy (DeForest Kelley) and the Enterprise go to a planet at the center of the galaxy.
With season one of Star Trek TNG under our belts we return our attention to the TOS film franchise and to a film that is more often than not maligned.
Star Trek V is a deeply flawed film but it has some of the finest scenes ever produced for Kirk, Spock and McCoy. So what is the film like for a non-trekkie? Well listen and find out!

As Picard negotiates with hostile Romulans, three people frozen since the 20th-century try to comprehend the 24th century.
We’re here! The last episode of season one Star Trek TNG and does the season end on a high note or a fizzer? We’ll be the judge!

Spurred by reports of misdeeds in Starfleet’s top echelon, Picard heads for Earth to uncover the truth.
Possibly the one episode most out of tone with the rest of the series, we’re talking about the episode Conspiracy this week. I apologise immediately for the cover photo but seriously how could I go past that as the best image in the whole episode?

A senseless loss shakes the away-team during an encounter with a sadistic alien holding Troi captive.
The true joy of doing this project is that Heath has been really good at not ruining any of the surprises of each episode. Of course, Skin of Evil probably benefits the most from this approach and we have what I feel is a great conversation about the episode from two very different backgrounds approaching it.
It’s an odd episode. It contains a massive event for the Trek universe but it doesn’t really earn or deserves it. Have a listen and let us know what you think over on Twitter (use #startrekfw) we’d love to hear other people’s thoughts on it.

Picard and the Away Team face deadly computerized weapons on the planet Minos as they investigate the disappearance of the USS Drake.
With all of my “arse”nal puns out of the way Heath and I visit Minos whilst Captain Picard and Dr Crusher fall into a hole. Many people said this was their favourite episode or in their top five so we’ll see how it holds up to a repeat and fresh viewing.
Beam on down!!!

Lt. Worf’s loyalty is put to the ultimate test when Klingon fugitives attack the Enterprise and attempt to recruit him.
It’s time for us to see some 24th century Klingons which Heath hasn’t yet encountered apart from our favourite Worf. So what does he think about them? Warning, I edited down some of it but this is still a very rambling podcast so you’ve been warned.

Picard’s performance record is closely scrutinised; Wesley struggles through the Starfleet Academy’s tough entrance exam.
So what does it take to get into Starfleet Academy? Quite a bloody lot actually. We discuss how there are ever any actual cadets at the Academy and we also chat about how annoying Starfleet “jobsworths” can be.

On Velara III, Data and Geordi discover a microscopic creature responsible for the death of an engineer.
I get the descriptions of the episodes from Google, this one is possibly one of the worst I’ve seen. With so many people over on Twitter mentioning that this episode is in their top Season one episodes there’s some expectations. Does the episode live up to everyone’s praise? Listen to the podcast and find out.
As always we’d love to hear your thoughts over on Twitter @HeathC and @LeeSargent
After tricking Data into evacuating the crew, a band of computer-dependent aliens hijacks the Enterprise.
This is an episode that really stood out to when I was watching TNG for the first time on television back when it first aired in Australia and so I really wanted to revisit the episode to see if it was actually any good. Heath has been enjoying the vibe of TNG so far so how does this episode hold up story wise.

Over on the Star Trek 365 project I recently featured the Bynars.
The Enterprise visits the planet where Data was created and discovers another android like him, but when he’s assembled, he’s not EXACTLY like him.
So the sound is still a little sketchy but we’re working on it… well I’m working on it but it will be better next week.
So this week we get to meet Data’s brother Lore and realise that the holidays would have been pretty awful at the Soong household. Is double the Data a good thing and how does this episode hold up? Check it out and let us know what you think!
