Star Wars 7x7: A Daily Bite-Sized Dose of Star Wars Joy

The Last Jedi theatrical poster was revealed on Monday, October 9th, earlier in the day before the release of the trailer. So you can excuse it for getting lost in the shuffle. But the poster has some interesting information on it - from the way Luke Skywalker is depicted, to the new injury on Rey's arm, to name a couple things. And what's excluded from the poster is also very telling in a way, too. Punch it!

I was thrilled to be a guest on CTV News in Canada again yesterday, this time to talk about The Last Jedi trailer. it's been a wild 24 hours since the release of the trailer, and already, the speculation is heating up - including speculation that the trailer is filled with, as Saw Gerrera might say, "Lies! Deceptions!" Punch it!

Rian Johnson, Mark Hamill, and Adam Driver all want you to see as little as possible of The Last Jedi before you see it in theaters. In fact, Rian Johnson said, "If you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it. But it's gooooood....." Well, he's right, but here - in the spirit of their best intentions, is an episode giving you the reasons why you might want to skip the trailer, without actually telling you what's in the trailer. Completely spoiler and speculation free. Punch it!

Star Wars has always been political, whether by drawing inspiration from real-world politics to dealing with its own internal politics. Today, I'm looking back in brief at some of the political elements of previous Star Wars movies, and speculating as to how much politics will be a factor in The Last Jedi. Punch it!

Lucasfilm did something it's never done before - brought a major exhibit to New York Comic-Con. Costumes and props from The Last Jedi were on display at NYCC, and we learned more intriguing details about the Elite Praetorian Guards than anything else. But there were also some interesting tidbits about Kylo Ren, Resistance bombers, and even something about Finn that's really more about what Lucasfilm *didn't* tell us. Punch it!

The Falcon appears in six Star Wars movies so far (four released, two in production), and so far it seems like it gets boarded by hostile parties in all but one of those six movies. (Well, maybe we don't know what the porgs' intentions are.) A brief history of the Falcon being boarded - onscreen, offscreen, and in deleted scenes - awaits you on today's podcast. Punch it!

The Han Solo movie continues its re-shoots and wraps up filming for more of its actors, while Rian Johnson reveals the actress playing the Resistance fighter named Tallie in The Last Jedi, whose character was first revealed via an action figure release on Force Friday II. Plus, later in the show (and with ample warning to avoid it if you want to), I'll address the spoilers out there about Tallie. Punch it!

Lucasfilm put its best foot forward to kick off their Star Wars 40th anniversary anthology, "From a Certain Point of View." Gary Whitta (Rogue One, Star Wars Rebels), Christie Golden (Dark Disciple, Battlefront II: Inferno Squad) and Ken Liu (The Legends of Luke Skywalker) tell the first stories in the anthology, which feature tales from the capture of the Tantive IV. Punch it!
