For Ep 67, Aphra is back to doing what she loves; finding & selling rare artifacts and almost dying in the process! In the first volume of the 2020 Aphra run, join everyone’s favourite rogue archaeologist with a whole new cast of characters and crazy situations that brings mystery, great dialogue and lots of connections to other Star Wars content that Mike will take you through, including info about the Kubaz species, the Tagge family, cursed bone cities and more!

These comics are set after Empire Strikes Back but before Return Of The Jedi, in 3-4 ABY.

For ep 63, Mike embarks on the final arc of the 2016 run of Doctor Aphra comics; A Rogue’s End including the Epilogue from Empire Ascendant and Doctor Aphra Annual 3. Issue 37 & Annual 3 were released in October 2019, issue 40 & Empire Ascendant were released December 2019 and the trade paperback collection was released February 2020.

For ep 60, Mike embarks on the first 5 issues of the War Of The Bounty Hunters 34-issue crossover event, which this month form “the prelude”! This story takes place just after Empire Strikes Back; carbonite-frozen Han Solo is stolen from Boba Fett on his way to collecting the bounty from Jabba The Hutt and now the whole galaxy is after Solo, including Luke & Chewie, Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra, Beilert Valance, Dengar and many other bounty hunters - this is the crossover event of the decade, so is not one to be missed!

This story is set just after Empire Strikes Back (& after the first runs of the Star Wars, Darth Vader & Doctor Aphra comics) and the reading order is WoBH Alpha>SW13>BH12>DV12>DA10.

WoBH Alpha was released 5th May 2021, it written by Charles Soule with Steve McNiven as artist and Laura Martin as colour artist. SW13 was released 12th May 2021, it was written by Charles Soule with Ramon Rosanas as artist and Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist. BH12 was released 19th May 2021, it written by Ethan Sacks with Paolo Villanelli as artist and Arif Prianto as colour artist. DV12 was released 26th May 2021, it written by Greg Park with Guiu Vilanova as artist and Dean White as colour artist along with Giada Marchiso. DA10 was released 26th May 2021, it written by Alyssa Wong with Ray-Anthony Heigh as penciller, Victor Olazaba as inker and Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist.

In ep 59, Mike embarks on the penultimate Doctor Aphra story-arc from the 2016 run; The Unspeakable Rebel Superweapon! In addition to detailing what this superweapon is, these issues give backstory to Aphra’s relationship with her mother and shows a huge amount of trickery & madness (as standard with Aphra), plus Mike gives information on RA-7 protocol droids, Gigorans, some of the artifacts in the Empire’s Gallery Of Peace and more of the connecting tissue between this story & the rest of the Star Wars universe!

At the end of this episode Mike gives information on next week’s episode, War Of The Bounty Hunters, as well as what you can expect from SWCIC over the coming months.

These comics are set between A New Hope & Empire Strikes Back, after all 2015 Vader comics.

These comics were all written by Simon Spurrier, Chris O’Halloran was the colour artist on all issues (with Stephane Paitreau on 32-34) Pencillers were; Wilton Santos on all issues bar 35 with Andrea Broccardo on 33-35, Caspar Wijngaard on 32 & 33 and Cris Bolson on 34 & 36. Inkers were: Marc Deering on issues 32-35, Walden Wong was on 33, 34 & 36 with Don Ho on issue 32 and Scott Hanna on issue 35.

Issue 32 was released in May 2019, issue 36 was released September 2019 and the trade paperback collection was released December 2019.

In ep 58, Mike embarks on the second half of the 12-issue Kanan comics run; First Blood! This story-arc shows flashbacks of Kanan’s time as a youngling in the Jedi temple, his relationship with his master Depa Billaba and his first missions in the clone wars along with a “present day” story set around season 1 of Star Wars Rebels! Mike also talks about Bacta, Jedi temple guards, Fenn Rau and many more connections within this comic run!

The flashbacks in these comics are set around 19 BBY (end of the Clone Wars, before Revenge Of The Sith) while the “present day” story is set around 4/5 BBY (a few years before Rogue One).

Please note this episode was originally released in June of 2021 on the feed of Comics In Motion.

These comics were all written by Greg Weisman, with David Curiel as colour artist and Pepe Larraz as artist on issues 7-11 and Andrea Broccardo as artist on issue 12. Issue 7 was released in October 2015, issue 12 was released March 2016, the trade paperback was May 2016 and the hardcover collection with all 12 issues was released December 2016.

Check out the last episode of SWCIC where Mike tackled the 10th volume of the main run of Star Wars comics; The Escape! This story-arc contains Luke, Han, Leia, C-3PO & R2-D2 escaping the empire and turning to Sana Starros for help, before getting stranded on the isolationist moon of Hubin where the mysterious warrior/clan leader Thane greets them!
