Hello, spacefarers! It's your friendly host, Luca. My brother Mike and I decided to re-watch two episodes of Andor today—what a treat for you, our loyal listeners!
This episode focuses on ISB Agent Dedra Meero and her colleagues. She's the only one taking the missing tech seriously, and her hunch has paid off. In previous episodes, she overstepped fellow ISB Agent Blevin's jurisdiction, only for the Empire to pass a law granting her access to all the records she needed to prove a "network" of rebels is stealing Imperial tech. After her superior, Major Partagaz, warns her that her methods have painted a target on her back, he allows her to present her evidence to her colleagues.
Karn continues to be a part of this series for some reason. In his new position at the Bureau of Imperial Statistics, he's made so much noise in the month he's been there that the ISB brings him in for questioning. Since they've identified Cassian and determined he cannot be working alone, Dedra makes it her mission to find out who the unknown "Axis" character is and how best to reach him/her through Cassian.
Since my brother keeps bringing up the game Jedi Fallen Order and the Nightsisters, I mentioned I would tweet a picture of the Nightsister first introduced in the film Ewoks: Battle For Endor. Little did we know this weird witch-like character was, in fact, a Nightsister. This detail was later retconned in the expanded universe through comics, books, or other media. The character's abilities were initially unexplained, but the fans eventually received an explanation.

This is frustrating! I spent twenty minutes typing up the show notes, only to let my OCD get the better of me. If I navigate away from this page before saving, everything gets deleted. And of course, that's exactly what happened. All because I wanted to name the audio file the same as the episode! Stupid brain. Oh well, here goes again.
Here's what I remember before it got deleted:
Our heroes have pulled off the heist. The big question now is, "What happens to the money?" Keep in mind, they stole 80,000,000 credits in cash. Not paper, but gold coins (or the Star Wars equivalent). Cassian left Vel alone—what did she do with several tons of coins? Was she supposed to deposit them? Bury them? Is someone holding them for her? If yes, then who? How can we trust those holding the money if she's not there? Is the plan to deposit these coins and then launder the money? Is that what Mon Mothma needs help with?
Maybe it's the writing getting a little convoluted, but the plot line regarding the money is becoming difficult to follow. Maybe I'm a dummy. I don't know. A new character is introduced at Mon Mothma's party—turns out he's an old friend and banker. She asks him for help moving money. They talked about it a lot, but it doesn't sound like it's the payroll they stole. It sounds like it's her personal finances. Either way, I'm assuming they wrote it this confusingly to keep the viewer wondering what happened to the money.
And Vel is on Coruscant! No money in sight!
All in all, this was a pretty good episode, except for the end. However, it does present a great challenge for our hero Cassian now that he's been imprisoned. Vel is tasked with taking him out since he's a loose end. However, the Empire got to him before she could. They don't know they have him since he's using a fake identity. What will the rebels do once they find out who he is? Tune in to the next episode to find out.
This has been your host, Luca. Pissed off because my original show notes got deleted, but oh well. C'est la vie.

Hello gang, Luca here... as usual. I'm pissed. I'm trying to add a video element to the podcast, and I can't seem to get a video file with audio from OBS. Ugh! I've gotten it to work before, but I keep messing it up. Also, the camera battery died while we were recording, so I need to get a dummy battery to prevent that from happening again. But it won't matter if I can't get audio with the video file.
In this episode of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast, we discuss episode six of Andor, titled "The Eye," which refers to the festival celebrating the meteor shower. As you'll hear, we were all very impressed with this episode. The audience (and the characters) get to see if the heist crew's training and preparation have paid off.
For me, the visuals in this episode were a standout. Once the meteor shower starts and Cassian is flying what's left of the crew off Aldhani, your eyes are dazzled by the vibrant colors on display. AJ and Mike were also impressed with the dialogue, especially Nemik's. As the idealist/intellectual of the crew, his word choice stands out compared to everyone else.
This was definitely another finale-like episode. One of my co-hosts mentioned that Andor is broken up into three-episode arcs. My biggest question from here is what happens with the money? Andor took his cut and left. How does Luthen track him down? How does this affect Mon Mothma? What does Vel do with the money? Are they planning on buying weapons or warships? What's going to happen in the next trilogy of episodes, starting with episode seven and ending with episode nine? Tune in and find out.

Greetings, friends! Sorry we didn't publish last week; I was out sick, and all the recording gear is at my place, so my co-hosts couldn't continue without me. I guess I am the indispensable glue that holds us together!
Today we re-watched episode 5 of Andor, titled "The Axe Remembers." We explain the significance of that title in this episode. The series is definitely gaining momentum. AJ commented that this feels like act 2 of a heist movie. We even make several references to the heist episode of Rick and Morty, where they dive into that trope.
We're all definitely enjoying Andor much more than Obi-Wan. It's such a shame, considering the popularity of Ewan McGregor and the character of Obi-Wan versus a completely original character like Andor.

Howdy, friends! We've got another episode of Andor in the bag for you—Episode 4, "Aldhani." This time, AJ and I (Luca) hosted a special guest, Sydney's brother Joel! Unlike his sister Sydney, Joel seems to have had a more normalized exposure to the Star Wars franchise. Compared to AJ and myself, he's definitely more of a casual observer. Of course, that's totally okay. With the glut of new Star Wars content on the way, it's interesting to see how fans take in each new piece of TV or film.
That's why I found Star Wars: Visions so fascinating! Since everything was animated in 2D or 3D depending on the anime studio, it definitely brought fresh eyes to the universe. Let us know if you'd be interested in hearing us re-watch any of the episodes of Star Wars: Visions at some point.
This episode of Andor is definitely slower-paced. However, AJ mentioned the previous episode was a nice finale for what he calls Part 1 of the Andor Saga. I agree. Since this is Act II, they're definitely setting up for what we hope is more action.

Howdy folks! Tune in to the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast as we delve into Episode 3 of Andor: "Reckoning." Shout-out to our super fan, my sister Frank—thanks for listening! Please share with your friends! Listen as I amusingly confuse Joseph Smith with Joseph Campbell. Campbell, not Smith, is the author of "The Hero with a Thousand Faces." George Lucas credits him as an influence on the creation of his Star Wars characters. Campbell's basic argument is that all heroes from mythology and fairy tales stem from the same hero archetype, known as the "Hero's Journey." These heroes may have different journeys and paths, but each story includes a set number of events that occur along the way.
When Cassian meets the buyer, I mention the "Call to Adventure," highlighting this part of the hero's journey. Cassian is approached by his "mentor" character, prompting him to leave the "familiar" for the "unfamiliar." We see a lot of Stellan Skarsgård in this episode, and his performance is definitely a highlight. Many of you might recognize him from his portrayal of Dr. Selvig in the Thor franchise. It's great to see him on screen, and we're eager to see how his relationship with Cassian develops throughout the series. Those familiar with Campbell's work might predict what happens to the "mentor character." Let's see if that holds true in future episodes!

It's only 29 minutes, and I'll have to teach myself how to edit, but my co-hosts suggested adding video, so here we are. Link to our YouTube channel is here. Tweet or email me if the link doesn't work properly.
Thanks, Luca, Michael, and AJ.

Hi, Mike here, typing up the show notes this time. We've got the 2nd episode in the books, and we all seem to be in love with the show—except for Luca, our original hipster who doesn't like anything! 😉
The episode opens with a flashback to Kanari, Cassian's home planet. We're starting to delve deeper into Cassian Andor's backstory and upbringing. Cassian and Bix's plan is also progressing with the 'buyer,' who AJ suspects might be Stellan Skarsgård's character. Meanwhile, Bix's boyfriend discovers the bulletin about a man from Kanari and jealously alerts the authorities. Karn assembles his team with a new character we lovingly nicknamed, Sgt. Bulldog. They have Cassian's name and face and are on their way to arrest him. The episode ends in a very cool, dramatic fashion with a shot of Cassian walking through a scrapyard, drums blaring as he moves toward the camera. All three parties are set to clash head-on. Meanwhile, AJ and I had a bit of fun trashing Luca throughout the podcast. Enjoy! 😉
Luca here now. Thank goodness I came in and edited this section. It sounded like Mike had typed 10,000 words, only for me to come in and see he barely wrote a paragraph!

Welcome to Season 2 of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast! Does that make sense? No, it doesn't. The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett would technically be Seasons 1 & 2 of this podcast if we re-watched them based on air date. We didn't do it that way, though. We're trying to catch the wave of that algorithm, and you can't do that with shows that aired a few years ago. Just kidding—we'll re-watch those eventually, just not sure when. I'm looking forward to it. After Obi-Wan and Andor, I'm sure I'll see Mandalorian and Boba Fett in a different light since there would be four shows to compare them to.
Today, we watched Episode 1 of Andor. I wasn't expecting this show! I love Diego Luna as an actor. Seeing him alongside Will Ferrell in La Casa de mi Padre was great. It was also hilarious seeing him on screen with another famous Mexican star, Gael Garcia Bernal, in Amores Perros. The two also starred in Y tu Mamá También, a great coming-of-age tale where Diego Luna's performance steals the show.
However, I don't think anyone was saying that about his performance in Rogue One. I think most people agreed the best performance went to K-2SO, portrayed by Alan Tudyk. We couldn't even see his face, but his lines and motion capture were so much more emotive than the live-action actors whose faces were on screen the entire time. Maybe Diego Luna's acting skills don't translate from Spanish to English all that well. I hope that's not the problem. Regardless, please join myself, AJ, and our special guests, Kelsey (AJ's wife) and Sydney, as we watch Episode 1 of Andor, "Kassa."
