Episode 101 Starlight Thursdays! Sometimes new forms of interactive art are created to explore the unexplainable, ineffable mysteries that allude humankind. From the depths of the void, a new entity has been formed, an entity of sound. SHBASS is curated by Rowan Bear, a musician born and raised in the underground scene of Missoula, Montana. Fusing raw bass and live saxophone, SHBASS opens a portal within the moment, a chance to become closer to the collective consciousness. A collective consciousness of head nodding, booty shaking, mind melting SHBASS!

Starlight Thursdays Episode 100!!! We felt this needed to be a cool one. Hitting triple digits is worth celebrating Right? Well we put something special together for y’all. CMO, MumbleBee, and BK Love have been working closely together on a electronic trio composed by combining their individual skills on keyboards, beat machines, and various instruments. Although this project isn’t ready to be debuted in a 100% live format. They felt it necessary to give us a taste of their recorded efforts as a trio utilizing their skills as DJs and introducing a live element created by playing keyboards and triggering beat machines that will soon become the main focus of their project.

This mix has a great Deep House vibe perfect for getting lost in the mellow melodies, classic kicks and catchy piano riffs. If you haven’t heard MumbleBee, CMO (AKA Gorilla Ghost Tribe) or BK Love you can check them out on Starlight Thursdays or their individual SoundCloud pages.

Starlight Thursdays Episode 98 featuring Lab Grade! If you haven’t heard him at Pirate Party, Neon City, Mount Olympus, Montana Magic, Forest Creatures, Private Party, or Euphrosyne…. Well now’s your chance to be serenaded with the beautiful sounds he’s recorded just for you. Searching for the sweetest tracks to build a set can be like hunting for wild flowers, each one added to the handful eventually forming a stunning bouquet. Over the last two years Lab Grade has done just that Blending Downtempo with Minimal Deep House tracks creating a mellow and uplifting mix occasionally reminiscent of a trip hop vibe that I personally have missed so much.

The timing couldn’t be better to share this, as our world continues to present chaos and uncertainty it’s without saying having some time to escape into the music is much needed. A moment that reminds us that today’s troubles will pass, everything is temporary and with the right prescription lenses everything is beautiful.

Originally from Bloomington, Indiana now residing in our amazing state Montana, goodgoodrum is bringing something different to the decks. Gravitating to Bass House and Tech House with an ear for good melodies and dope hooks I’m sure this mix will catch your attention as it has mine.

My first introduction to DJing was through my older brother and the mixes he created. Part of the reason I got into myself was because I was inspired by him, the other part was my love for music and wanting to share it with others.

Starlight Thursdays Episode 96 featuring MumbleBee. This is the 4th mix of their’s we’ve hosted and they just keep getting better. Mumblebee’s creative process and story telling has captivated us in so many ways and we hope you feel the same. 


MumbleBee (they/them) This mix was inspired by a late night in December. Sleep wouldn’t reach me, so I mixed. What I came up with is an organic and jaunty experiment of sounds. I quite like it, I’d like to share it. Some of the selections in this mix made it into live sets that I curated at the beginning of 2022.


A few words about MumbleBee

MumbleBee is a time traveling Technomancer from Kalamazoo in the year 2077. During an animated amalgamation experiment gone wrong, they took a tumble into a rogue timestream and landed in Missoula Montana: Late 2020. This mix is dedicated to artists who make awesomely bombastic electronic music. It combines my love for electro, breaks and techno into a gelatinous barrage of sounds that jump out of the speakers. The artists I’ve selected are from all around the world and are some of my fav’s. I’ve also sprinkled in a few unreleased originals. Think this is the most tracks I’ve ever crammed into an hour. Starlight Thursdays Episode 94 Featuring BK Love. In this episode we dive head first into the Midnight Life Crisis party January 22 4am at the Legacy Lounge.

A Few Words From BK Love.

It’s always a pleasure to play at the new after hours spot and even more exciting to be DJing on a lineup curated by the local legend and long time Badlander resident Kris Moon. As the parties have started going later into the night in Missoula so has the energy required to cultivate an inspiring dance floor in the am. I’ve gravitated toward late night DJing for quite some time, always finding the culture to be more interesting and artistic. I think DJs are a little more comfortable taking risks mixing creatively as well as selecting tracks that they wouldn’t choose to satiate the mainstream nightclub environment. The party goers are often seeking something less conventional than what the average establishment provides. To me the true pulse of any art movement is slightly hidden from the spotlight, when it becomes mainstream it loses a lot of the elements that make it interesting. This is the environment that inspires me, keeps my blood pumping, fuels the motivation to stay up all night digging through the endless ether of digital music with dry eyes and tired ears, these are the moments I pour my soul into.

Looking to keep it fresh for those listening and for myself I’ve been hunting for artists from all over the world that can grab my ear in a certain way. Lately I have been finding techno and house coming out of Tel Aviv and Siberia to take me to another level. In this mix you’ll hear a bunch of tracks from those regions composed of musical elements from African influence to Detroit techno and some fresh underground Brooklyn Deep House.

Really hope you enjoy this mix just as much as I enjoyed making it
