As he grew as an artist, he drifted more and more towards the faster BPMs, eventually settling and polishing his love for DnB and Hardcore.

When the Speed Demon(Night Ryder) gets trapped in a time vacuum, the BPMs drop, but the same dark, driving energy remains, sucking you into a psychedelic experience.

R808 (Radiate) Has been mixing for over year and a half. Originally from Portland Oregon, and living in Missoula for the past 7 years. We got to host her at Tickle My Fancy. A Few Words From R808:

I was drawn to DJing because I have been deeply immersed in the dance music scene for my entire adult life. From getting directions to the warehouse the morning of the rave, to twisting up Kandi to share with total strangers. I have always been in full adoration of the scene that has shaped me.

I wanted to be able to cultivate beautiful experiences for people entering the scene,

and remind people who have been a part of the scene why they love it. I wanted to be able to create a space where music held movement and the rhythm of my sets had a heartbeat.

I wanted everyone to feel welcome and admired for exactly who they choose to be.

I’m inspired by my friends, the the outdoors, and all the music i listen too. This mix contains a variety of chilled out house, techno and breakbeats and some ambiance sprinkled throughout. With an exciting summer of music lying ahead i wanted to make a mix of chiller, less dancefloor reliant music that i enjoy listening to and am inspired by, as well as some originals and some new stuff i am working on!

BRIAN THABAULT is a force to be reckoned with, there’s more to know about his involvement in the scene then we could possibly get across in this post. With over 13 years in the booth, he originally got his start as a producer, then started DJing in college being that nobody else was and felt that vibe was lacking. Born and raised in Vermont then moved to Montana, got connected with the Fox Den. He was a part of that crew and involved in organizing parties and residencies around the state. Eventually Brian packed up shop and moved to Brooklyn. If you’re not in the know, that part of NYC is the staple of the warehouse party scene. He’s still involved in our local scene managing a record label consisting of several Montanans and providing a sound that’s lacking in our region.

If you haven’t heard him play at festivals in Montana, Burning Man, parties in NYC, Miami, Portland Oregon, or Burlington Vermont then here’s your chance to get down to his melodic sound. Rumor has it he’ll be making a return to a stage MT this summer.

I’m inspired by my surroundings, my friends who produce music and DJ. I recorded this mix live at a private rooftop party in Brooklyn. Filled with Deep House, Breakbeats and Minimal. Tracks by artists such as, DJ Cl3an, Spin Department, Mike Stolin, Snad, Mike Berardi, John Barera, Oshana, Desert Sound Colony, Kerri Chandler, Black Light Smoke, Melodie, Fred P and some tunes I produced.

Mark Myriad was Born and raised in Missoula, started DJing house parties while at college in Bozeman, then graduated to downtown Missoula starting in 2008. First "real" show was with Mike Stolin at the original Top Hat, put on by our mutual friend VYCES. He has hosted multiple residencies in Missoula over the years, including Motown on Mondays, Drop Culture, Plonk SIN night, & Fishbowl Fridays.

I've gone back to my roots a bit during the pandemic and have become rather intimate with my record collection. This mix is 100% vinyl and contains a lot of my favorite old school disco/funk/boogie tunes, many of which have been heavily sampled and helped to inspire the house music movement. Hope you enjoy. Welcome TRX to the series! Episode 56 of Starlight Thursdays.

TRX Formerly known as T-Rex has been sharing his talent as a DJ for over 4 years. From Missoula MT, You may have busted a move to his groves at Disco Bloodbath or during his residency at The Badlander with his mentor Kris Moon, called Party Volcano as well as Winter Brewfest and plenty of other parties. His style is fun and dancy, filled with house remixes of Pop classics, Hip Hop and Party vibes keeping the airways vibrant and bumping.

A few Words From TRX

I play all styles, but I have an affinity to House, Disco, and of course Breaks. I was always interested in this kind of music I used to go clubbing with my Break dancing homies, after most of my crew moved and less B-Boys were around I shifted my focus to the music.

This mix is a live set that I recorded at Kris Moons Midnight Life Crisis label release party. We threw several events before the shut down and hopefully we can get some more going. I went back and listened to it and the mix itself brought me back to the badlander in a visceral way. I enjoyed the vibe of it and hope you all will too. You’ll hear tracks from Ciara, Big Sean, ASAP Ferg, Some Nick Bike edits, Daft Punk, Duia Lipa, Price, Troi Boi. I mean I am kind of all over the place, but I think it all goes very well together.

Come check me out at my new residency every Thursday on the Badlander stage, My new residency is called “Dance Party '' with my Homie DJ Mic Mercury beginning June 3rd witch will be the Badlander’s grand reopening. MumbleBee has been DJing Since January 2020, with so little time behind the decks it’s a wonder that they have a style one would assume took years to cultivate. Originally from The Zoo (Kalamazoo), now in Zoo Town we met Mumblebee behind the booth at Monk’s. Blown away by the vibe they brought to the party we had them over to The Senvion to hear more. Before those events Mumblebee had only played a few open decks and a few parties. We’re really excited to share this mix with you and have an amazing new member in our scene.

A few words form Mumblebee:

I enjoy the manipulation of sounds, and the tactile response feeling of a mixing board. Being the center of attention every now and again is nice too. Anything from color, an emotion, places I visit, people, my friends, etc give me inspiration

This mix is a little eclectic. It’s got some bass music, I threw in Sylvan Esso and a Car Seat Headrest track. The beginning is a lot of Stagga. Their music gives me vertigo so I thought it fit the vibe I was going for. There’s also a Sneaks track right at the beginning (I love Sneaks). Then I capped it off with some melodic deep house.

This Mix is called Through the Tunnel//IntroMission//On the Other Side.

It’s a concept inspired by the feeling of unease one gets from watching the tunnel scene from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder Version)

One of my favorite things to do is start a mix pretty slow (this one starts at 70bpm) and work my way up to a faster bpm (this mix ends at 123bpm) I have a pretty diverse music taste and by doing this I get to play all of the tracks I like.

Episode 54 Saylor Moon takes the stage for the second time in Starlight Thursdays. She delivers the Hip Hop vibes with a glitchy twist mashed up with some tasty Dubstep beats. We were able to catch her live at Monk’s recently, she had the entire place swaying and jumping around. If you missed that set be sure to catch this one, whether you’re listening in the car, at work or out for a jog this mix is sure to get your heart racing and body moving. Be sure to check out her first set in the series (Episode 32) if you haven’t already.

Crank Zapppa; the moniker of Dustin Fugere, is a purveyor of breaks, techno, and all things funky. Playing parties, dance floors, and headphones for about 3 years now with no sign of stopping. Originally and still, a bass guitar player specializing in heavy metal, and rock and roll, with a background in Jazz, upright, and musical theatre. Getting into the scene nearly a decade ago and falling in love with the people and atmosphere, eventually deciding to bring his own eclectic tastes for a simply a fun and new creative outlet.

A Few Words From the Man Himself.

This mix would best be described as break/tech with a healthy dose of acid techno. Featuring classic sounds from Jenson Interceptor, under appreciated Bandcamp artists, and the Acid sound of Steve Mills and Chris Liberator. I hope you enjoy it, and play it loud whenever possible.
