Mercury just does it more often than others, 3 times a year. Venus goes retrograde once every 18 months. And no, it doesn’t actually move backwards in its orbit, but only appears to do so to the observer from Earth. Welcome back to Stars & You Astrology Podcast. I’m your host, Nika, and today we’ll take a look at the looming Partial Lunar Eclipse on November 19th that opens the Eclipse Corridor, an intense and transformative period that will last for 2 weeks, until Dec. 4th. 

An Eclipse corridor is a portal of change that can be felt as far as weeks in advance, and it can affect you more or less, depending on what area it’s triggering in your personal chart. Because eclipses happen when the Moon and Sun are near the Lunar Nodes, also known as the Karmic Nodes, the events that transpire can be karmic in nature. They start and begin new cycles. That explains why many people have important changes in their lives: one door may close, so that another door can lead you to an experience, necessary for your spiritual evolution. Whatever comes up, wisdom, humbleness and righteousness will help you sail through it. As if eclipses weren’t intense on their own, this one on November 19th happens in exact conjunction with a fixed star Algol that many Astrologers agree is the most malicious one. Heads may roll. New Moon in Scorpio, November 4, 2021

How’s the Scorpio season treating you so far? The good news about Mars’ finally leaving Libra, and diving deep into Scorpionic energies, is that Mars, the planet of action is strong in Scorpio, strategic, resourceful and unwavering, and I’m glad you’re listening right now, because on this New Moon, both the Sun and the Moon are at 12 degrees Scorpio and in exact opposition to Uranus, also in the 12 degrees of the sign opposing Scorpio - Taurus. This is a very challenging aspect for both our emotional and rational minds. Challenging situations may show up out of the blue at home or at a workplace. So it’s very important to play it very safe in the days to come, keep your emotions in check, and calmly navigate any sudden challenges that will pop up. This aspect may play out especially challenging for Tauruses, Scorpios, Leos and Aquarius, so decide right now to take it easy and remain calm and humble despite the disruptive nature of surprises you may get.

This is not a good New Moon to plant seeds for projects or dreams, but it’s perfect to say goodbye to old patterns, vices, lovers and connections that you know have served their purpose. 

The eclipse season is almost upon us! And some of you have already started to feel it. From November 19th to December 4th, we will be in what is called “the corridor between eclipses” or the eclipse corridor. It’s a weird time that feels like going through a tunnel, and usually brings big changes and new things into our lives. So back to this New Moon: people around you might get spontaneous, irritable and unpredictable. Actions taken on this day might be inexplicable, even by people who took them. This period is likely to cause fights and breakups which may last forever, so if you value a connection or a venue, stay kind and patient, or you might lose it forever. If you have some unorthodox ideas that seem genius to you on this New Moon, they will prove more utopian than progressive. Instead, make a list of patterns and vices you want to be done with for good, read it, feel it, and say goodbye. Uranus will help you to make them forever a thing of your past.

New Moons are important, because the energies last for a whole month, and affect us until the next New Moon. The first 2 weeks after any NM, the period between NM and Full Moon, is the best time to set intentions, visualize, and take action to start new things. 

So why am I calling this New Moon on October 6 “aggressive”? It is indeed a very powerful NM which we haven’t experienced before. New Moon happens when the Moon meets the Sun in the same sign, in the same degree, but this time Mars is also at the same exact position - 13º Libra, plus a powerful fixed star Algorab is also involved in this New Moon. In English, we have to watch our emotions this New Moon and in the next unfolding days; self-control and setting ambitious intentions will go hand in hand. However, if you lose your cool and react from a place of weakness or anger, then the energies of this New Moon might cause destruction, so please, for the next few days, be careful, protect your space and feelings and stay very calm and composed. Basically, your response to provocations might be lightning fast, and that might have long term consequences, so chill, breathe and keep your mind balanced throughout this week. 

Together with Mars, this New Moon will create an abundance of energy, initiative and courage. It’s important to use this energy in a constructive way. Don’t let impatience or irritation build up inside you, but check in with how you feel often, and release this energy in a constructive way, such as taking action on important projects or starting a new exercise routine. 

So what should you do this week as the Moon is growing? Plan new things, and because Mercury is still in retrograde, finish things you started earlier. Decide to let go of bad habits. Tidying and cleaning your work and home space will also help you to manage this powerful energy.

Yes, yet again the season of MR is upon us. A word to the skeptics: yes, we know that Mercury doesn’t actually go backwards in its orbit. But, when Mercury is on the far side of the Sun, it appears to be going backwards, to be making a loop, which is called retrograde motion. Over the thousands of years astrologers have clearly noticed that when the planet of communication appears to be going backwards in its orbit, here on Earth all sorts of Mercury-related areas tend to go haywire. I’m telling you, the glitches are real! That’s why, if you can consciously choose to avoid starting important things in these 3 weeks, your affairs will definitely go more smoothly and avoid unnecessary delays or do-overs. 

First, let’s talk about general recommendations for the period of MR for all signs: avoid: signing contracts, and that includes marriage contracts, business agreements and even handshake verbal agreements. Mercury rules it all - verbal, written or electronic. 

Avoid travel if you can, but if you need to get on that plane, train or automobile, then double and triple check your tickets, leave an extra 1 or 2 hours earlier, have a back up plan even if you have a reliable vehicle, and don’t lose your peace of mind if you encounter any unexpected delays. Actually, expect delays. It’s even ok for you to change plans, even if others are involved. Don’t feel guilty if you have to go back on your agreed time or date. Trust that it will work out for the best in the long run. 

Surgeries that can be done either prior to September 27th or after October 18th, should also be avoided during the retrograde period. However, if it’s really important and can’t be rescheduled, then do not worry: the universe picked that timing for you for a reason. It may be perfect for you, based on your personal aspects and transits. 

Weddings are okay during this period, if you sign the important papers before or after, but your guests might be delayed in their travels or confuse the date, and some of the tech you use to make your ceremony fun and beautiful might not work as expected, so help your guests and staff stay organized and double check everything. 

Because this time Mercury retrogrades in Libra, the 4 Cardinal signs will be affected the most. So, Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn Sun and Rising, you might want to be extra careful and patient, especially if you were born between the first and 16th of the month, give or take a day.

What I love most about Aries is their readiness to jump into action. However, and don’t shoot the messenger, my fiery warriors, September might require us all to slow down. The clearest indicator of this is that in addition to the 5 slow planets that are already retrograde this month, Mercury will drop its speed and also start its retrograde motion at the end of the month, becoming the 6th planet to go retrograde. And when 6 out of 10 planets are retro, the energies call us to deal with the slowing down of various processes and re-do what must be revisited and improved, rather than start new things or expect progress and breakthroughs. I will make a separate episode about which areas this Mercury Retrograde will affect you, dear Aries, but today we’re looking at September in general. So if you have things you need to complete or start in September, do it in the first have, before Mercury will start to slow down and before your ruling planet Mars enters Libra on September 14th. So plan to do important stuff before the 14th.
