Last year on the heels of the pandemic, the nonprofit created Reading Partners Connects, a digital program to help support students in under-resourced schools reading below grade level. The innovative online program has allowed Reading Partners to continue to partner with schools and provide volunteer-led one-on-one literacy instruction to students in situations where school campuses are closed to volunteers or where students are in blended learning environments.

When it comes to trauma- understand and empathy is different than pity and lowered expectations.

Not knowing how to handle school opening for COVID last year was ok. Not knowing what to do now is not acceptable. Are we keeping our kids safe by NOT opening schools?

Most schools in California have not gone back in almost a year.
