Jesus never said anything about earthly power. As he enters Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, we are reminded that he knows what is about to happen. Yet, he remains obedient to His heavenly Father. On this Palm Sunday, we are reminded that the kingdom is about obedience, obedience to our heavenly Father in all He asks us to do.

The Kingdom of God is revealed through Jesus, and at its heart is a desire to bring healing to what is broken in our lives. Through the story of Bartimaeus, we see that healing begins with recognizing our need and boldly calling out to Jesus in faith. God still heals today—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—often inviting us to actively seek Him in the process. Every healing we experience now points to the ultimate restoration we will one day have through Jesus.

The culture of God’s Kingdom is shaped by the character of the King—Jesus—and one of its defining characteristics is sacrifice. In Luke 18, Jesus shows that following Him isn’t just about keeping rules, but about surrendering the things we hold onto most. Faith requires giving up what we think is good so we can receive what Jesus knows is better. When we sacrifice temporary things to follow Christ, we gain something far greater—life, purpose, and eternal hope through Him.

The culture of the Kingdom of God reflects the character of the King—Jesus—and His heart is always for the lost. Through the parable of the lost sheep, Jesus shows that every person matters and that heaven rejoices when even one lost person is found. As followers of Jesus, our mission is to share that same heart—doing whatever it takes to help people move from lost to found.

As we enter the season of Lent, this message connects the meaning of Lent—preparing our hearts for Christ’s death and resurrection—with the call to repentance found in Book of Joel. Joel’s imagery of a devastating locust plague warns of the seriousness of sin and reminds us that the “day of the Lord” is both a wake-up call and an invitation to return to God. True repentance, Joel teaches, isn’t just outward action but inward remorse—“tearing our hearts,” not just our clothes. This Lenten season invites us to make space for God, turn from our sin, and allow genuine heart change to lead to transformed lives.
