Recently, a major breach came to light when cybersecurity firm White Ops found 70K photos from Tinder users were stolen and shared on a dark web site.

Putting a stop to such duplicitous accounts, Tinder has rolled out a photo verification feature to authenticate users.

The photo verification feature will help Tinder to verify a user’s authenticity and also increase the trust among users in general.

When contacted by Inc42, Tinder India did not say when the feature would be launched in India but did say that it would be rolled out gradually in all locations.

Point-of-sales (PoS) services provider Pine Labs has raised a new round of funding from the global card network major Mastercard .

While transaction details were not disclosed, the new round is pegged at $100-150 million (Rs 713-1,069 crore).

This will make the Sequoia-backed Pine Labs the first Indian unicorn in 2020 with a valuation of $1.5-1.6 billion, said one of the sources briefed on the deal.In a prepared statement, Pine Labs said it will work with Mastercard to deliver a range of card and real-time payments-based instalment financing at checkout — both in-store and online.

It already offers working capital loans and the company also set up a unit called Pine Labs Finance earlier last year.

Leila Janah, a serial entrepreneur who was the CEO and founder of machine learning training data company Samasource, passed away at the age of 37 due to complications from Epithelioid Sarcoma, a form of cancer, according to a statement from the company.

The company has a global staff of 2,900 and is the largest AI and data annotation employer in East Africa, Janah told TechCrunch.

Janah shared her view that providing for-profit AI training data to global companies can be done while improving lives in East Africa.

In addition to Samasource, Janah founded SF-based Samaschool, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping low-income workers learn critical freelancing skills by helping them negotiate the changing dynamics in the freelance economy.
