The Tech West Collective, an association of Alberta-based tech companies, is hosting its first networking event this month in an effort to attract more talent to Calgary.

The event, taking place on November 30, will allow attendees to network with the sponsoring companies, learn about what’s happening for Calgary’s tech scene, and demo the sponsoring companies’ offerings.

The collective is made up of seven Calgary-based tech startups who plan to scale quickly in the coming months.

In an expression of interest (EoI) announced by Tea Board India on October 17, 2019, top corporates and tech giants such as Amazon, Infosys and Yes Bank alongside 25 companies have shown keen interest to help Tea Board use blockchain and allied technology solutions to bring traceability in the entire value chain of tea trade.

In an ET report, the deputy chairman Arun Kumar Ray of Tea Board India said that this exercise of leveraging blockchain technology will help them in determining the traceability of the produce, particularly the orthodox blends of tea.

By using this technology, Tea Board will be able to determine the quality, purity and assay of the tea exported from the country, he added.

Recently, the minister of state for electronics and IT, Sanjay Dhotre said that blockchain technology has the potential to impact various segment such as governance, BFSI, cybersecurity among others.

According to a Pune Mirror report, vendors operating in a building, owned by Accenture, started their protest against Zomato after it deducted a large amount of money from their accounts.

Seven vendors operating 15 different kiosks allege that Zomato hasn’t provided any explanation for the deductions.

Besides Zomato, these vendors reportedly are also suing TongueStun, a subsidiary of Zomato which aggregates vendors and caterers for food delivery in corporate offices.

However, in September 2018, Zomato acquired TongueStun and the vendors entered into a new contract with Zomato.

The centre also said it would need to be determined whether sites were operating games of skill or games of chanceResponding to a Delhi High Court order in an ongoing petition to block online gaming sites in India, the government has claimed that such a blockade would be technically unfeasible.

The Delhi High Court had urged the central government and the Delhi state government to assess the petitioners’ demands to block gaming sites on the basis of skill or chance.

The petitioners Avinash Mehrotra and Deepti Bhagat had claimed that gaming and gambling websites are encouraging people to spend income on games of chance.

In a Business Standard report, the central government submitted an affidavit before a bench of chief justice DN Patel and justice C Hari Shankar telling the court that blocking online gaming sites such as card games is not technically feasible.

GST collections crossed the Rs 1 lakh crore mark after a gap of three months in November, growing by 6 percent to Rs 1.03 lakh crore aided by festival demand.

The GST collection stood at Rs 97,637 crore in the same month last year while revenue collection under this head was Rs 95,380 crore in October.

“Of gross Rs 1,03,492 crore in November, CGST is Rs 19,592 crore, SGST is Rs 27,144 crore, IGST is Rs 49,028 crore (including Rs 20,948 crore collected on imports) and Cess is Rs 7,727 crore (including Rs 869 crore collected on imports),” it said.

After July this year, when GST collection was Rs 1,02,083 crore, it crossed Rs 1 lakh crore in November.
