London ed tech startup pi-top has gone through another round of layoffs, TechCrunch has learned.

Staff have also been told that the business focus has shifted to the U.S schools market.

Sources familiar with pi-top say the company is seeking to pivot away from making proprietary ed tech hardware to focus on a SaaS learning platform for teaching STEM, called pi-top Further.

Asked about progress on the pi-top 4, the company told us the device began shipping to backers this week.

Confidence Analytics, the self-proclaimed first cannabis lab to test a sample under Washington state’s legal recreational marijuana law, is raising cash to expand to California.

The Redmond, Wash. lab was founded in 2014, in anticipation of the state’s regulation of recreational marijuana.

Confidence Analytics is one of 15 accredited cannabis testing labs in Washington state, said Nick Mosely, co-founder of Confidence Analytics.

Today, Confidence Analytics has 26 employees, and Mosely expects to at least double headcount as the company expands to California.
