Episode #209: In this STATE OF MIND episode, Debra Sloss, is joined by ACA Program participants and sponsors Bill Trimpyand Birch Curry to discuss how they are healing from growing up in dysfunctional families, the lasting impacts of those experiences and how they found support and growth in programs like the 12-step Adult Children of Alcoholics & Other Dysfunctional Families Program (known as ACA). Bill shares what it was like for him to not feel adequately understood or supported while growing up in his family, feeling lost and unanchored in his young adulthood, his pursuit of various paths to healing and growth and how in recent years he has been finding community, support and notable healing through the ACA program. Birch also shares his own experiences of how the ACA program is helping him heal from his difficult childhood experiences, have better relationships with others and experience greater joy and freedom in his life. Birch helps us understand what the ACA program is and how it works for participants.
