In this episode, I want to speak about the second part of step eleven, praying only for knowledge of His will for me and the power to carry that out.

I know I told you that these are my version of the steps, mostly to make them ‘mine’, and they are, as far as I know, the original steps from the first edition of the Big Book. I really wanted to remove the words ‘prayer’ and ‘meditation’ but I haven’t, for two reasons. First of all, many, (most?), of you believe in the concept of prayer. That is fine. Prayer has been around for as long as humanity and I have to believe that God hears our prayers. But I must be honest with you as a writer. I don’t want to alienate you so that you might throw out the baby with the bath water.

Secondly, I simply don’t have it in me to alter these beautiful steps that much. I’ll just leave well enough alone!
