In this episode, Teresa Shaver from the Business Advisory Centre Durham talks to team member Andrea Rowland. Andrea Rowland has over 20 years of experience in marketing, branding and communications having graduated with a B.A. Honors Degree in Graphic Design. She has worked for many industries including West End theatre; telecommunications; industrial oil and paint; plus, the pharmaceutical and medical sector. Originally from the UK, in 1996 she headed overseas to work and travel in Australia and New Zealand. In 2000, she permanently moved to Australia and her entrepreneurial spirit truly expressed itself in 2006 when she started a craft brewery with her Canadian husband, Kevin in northern New South Wales, Australia. The experience of starting a manufacturing business has given her hands-on knowledge of the challenges of starting and growing a business which she now shares with clients at BACD. Art Your Service creates and delivers meaningful activities and events for seniors. Their best-selling program in-a-box, Cultivating Gratitude, has been sold to hundreds of retirement and long term care homes across North America. To help combat the isolation many seniors were feeling during the pandemic, she launched her new service: Virtual Classes and Socials for Seniors which offers two live and interactive activities a day (one fitness, one creative) five days a week using experts in the fitness and creative aging field. Seniors haven’t “lived” interesting lives but are still living them. Art Your Service makes sure all their events are people-centred and age-appropriate so that every senior can continue to live their best lives.
