A lot of movies have come out this summer. Which have I seen, and which do I recommend?

Spider-Man has always been the victim of executive meddling, whether in the comics or cartoons or cinema. Here are my feelings about the franchise and my rankings for each of the solo movies to date.

It seems that most of the movies produced these days are remakes or sequels or adaptations. But is that really a bad thing? Can they still be called "original"?

The most important part of any story, even more so than the plot itself, is the characters. We need to be able to empathize with them if we're going to continue reading about and watching them. But do the characters need to be humans for us to care what happens to them?
