  • Hearts And Hands

    DEVOTIONAL

This podcast is a devotional Steve gives on the integrity of Heart and Skillful Hands.

Integrity of Heart and Skillful Hands:
How was it that David, the shepherd boy, enters the kingdom as a musician and develops into the king’s armor-bearer and eventually becomes the King of Israel?

It was David’s heart of integrity and skillful hands.

Psalm 78:70-72 says, “70 He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; 71 from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance. 72 And David shepherded them with the integrity of heart; with skillful hands, he led them.”

David was a man of character and competence.

These verses point out some significant insights into the Lord’s assignment and requirement for us Christians and, more specifically, for Christian leaders.

One must develop both spiritually and technically.

God cares not only about our hearts being right but what we do needs to be done right too.

It’s not that some the heart but not skill.
It’s not that some have the skill and not the heart.

    It’s not “either/or” but “both/and”

Integrity of heart: an excellent pursuit (of the God who gave us those talents & abilities)
Skillful hands: the pursuit of excellence (in our God-given talents & abilities)

Integrity of heart: taking root below (invisible resources)
Skillful hands: bearing fruit above (visible results)

Integrity of heart: the shaping of our hearts (something God does)
Skillful hands: the shaping of our hands (something we do)

Integrity of heart: needed for shepherding (pastoring, nurturing)
Skillful hands: needed for leading (organizing, administrating)

Remember that serving God requires both the heart and the hands, both the spiritual and the technical. How we prepare ourselves and how we present ourselves both matters. We must strive for both character and competence.

  • Living In A Technological Context

    LECTURE

This episode is made up of a lecture taught by Steve about The Challenges of Christian Leadership Living in a Technological Context.

“Today’s social networking, cultural complexities, and political divide have a multiplicity of voices and influences speaking into the next generation. And it is in this sense that the past generational leadership may not inspire the same confidence.

The lack of realization of the clear and present danger that social pop culture based on technological movements besets the church today is important.

So, in this lecture, we will learn about six clear and present challenges as it relates to the leadership crisis of living in a technological context.”

  • Many Influencers, Few Fathers

    DEVOTIONAL

Today, everyone is a journalist, and everyone is an expert. It is not popular to speak about authority because it demands a loving and committed relationship.

In a time and place where we listen to a multiplicity of influencers rather than spiritual fathers, who has the spiritual authority to speak into your life? Do you have any loving spiritual fathers who speak gospel truth into your life? Are you humble enough to receive it? Will you align your life to Kingdom principles?

  • The Undivided Life

    DEVOTIONAL

In Psalm 86:11 David prayed, “Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” (NIV)

So often we think of worship as something we do on Sunday and work as something we do on Monday. I want to encourage you to live a whole life. A life that is whole—where “soul and role” are aligned. It’s time to break down the divide between the sacred and the secular, between the church and the world, between your spiritual life and the ‘rest of our life.’ Remove the Sunday-Monday Gap. Connect your Sunday faith to Monday work! Do it all as an act of worship and for the Glory of God!

  • Storms Reveal Foundations

    DEVOTIONAL

The real foundation of our life is usually hidden and until a storm comes. And 2020 has been a metaphorical storm revealing the true foundations of believers, pastors, and churches.

We are living in a time and age where the rain is coming down, the streams are rising, and the winds are blowing against our house. Will it reveal Solid Biblical Truth as foundations or will it reveal Sandy Progressive Doctrines as foundations?

Today, believers are more apt to believe the words of a blue checkmark than the red words of Scripture. And as a result, we see many who are falling away from sound doctrine and into progressive doctrines that deny the inspiration of Scripture and a redefining what it means to be a Christian.

We need to develop deep, seated convictions, especially when we are being pulled and tugged in a million directions. Remember, if you don’t know what you believe, you will fall for anything.
