We still have a few gigs lined up this month, Christmas Eve and New Year included, so pretty busy.

We've also been to many open mics, three alone on Sunday in Hitchin, @steevc has [posted about one here](https://peakd.com/hive-181335/@steevc/tjloinsg).

We've been to Tom Tiddler's Tavern in Stevenage a couple of times and had taken out a new song there for the first time, well, it's new for me and the band, Steve has actually been playing it for years.

"Shallow" is lovely duet, but challenging for the female part and I kept away from it for a long while. I'm still a little unsure now, but let me know what you think.

Wir haben diesen Monat noch einige Auftritte, unter anderem an Heiligabend und Silvester, sind also ziemlich beschäftigt.

Wir hatten ein sehr arbeitsreiches Wochenende.

Es gab ein paar Open-Mic-Veranstaltungen, aber das größte Event war Todd in the Hole, wo wir letztes Jahr gespielt haben. Naja, ich war nicht wirklich dabei. 🙄

Ich warte noch auf Bilder für einen weiteren Beitrag.

Wir haben für das kommende Wochenende zwei Auftritte geplant: Freitag in einem Pub und Samstag auf einem Dorffest. Deshalb haben wir einen unserer neuen Songs bei einer der Open-Mic-Veranstaltungen am Samstag mitgenommen.

„Baby when you're gone“ von Bryan Adams und Mel C kam richtig gut an, und wir halten ihn jetzt für konzertreif für das kommende Wochenende.

Ich poste hier eine Kostprobe von unserer Freundin Sarah, die auch diese Open-Mic-Veranstaltung leitet.

Ihr bekommt auch ein bisschen „Respect“ von Erasure – wir sind schließlich beide 80er-Kids. 😁

After our gig on Friday was I rather tired in the morning and not up to much. The voice was slightly croaky, but it needed waking up nevertheless, because we had little festival in Hichin to attend on Saturday.

Brickfest was organised by our friend Kev to raise money for Alzheimer's; His partner works for the charity and he himself had a case in his family, so it's close to his heart.

Kev knows a lot of local musicians, and we're always very happy to attend and support. We had a bit longer than half an hour to play, the list of acts was long and exciting.

We always like to cramp in as much as we can and tend not to talk between songs, unlike at gigs where we like a little banter in-between.

We played our usual faster numbers plus Meatloaf's "Dead Ringer for Love", which is still in its early stages, I have yet to introduce my bass and we're still working on the overall layout, but it's already a lot of fun and the people's reaction is always amazing as it's not a song you get to hear a lot.

Nach unserem Auftritt am Freitag war ich morgens ziemlich müde und nicht zu viel aufgelegt. Meine Stimme war etwas heiser, aber sie musste trotzdem geweckt werden, denn wir hatten am Samstag ein kleines Festival in Hichin.

Das Brickfest wurde von unserem Freund Kev organisiert, um Spenden für Alzheimer zu sammeln. Seine Partnerin arbeitet für die Organisation und Kev hatte selbst einen Fall in seiner Familie, daher liegt ihm das Fest sehr am Herzen.

Kev kennt viele Musiker aus der Gegend, und wir sind immer sehr gerne dabei und unterstützen sie. Wir hatten etwas mehr als eine halbe Stunde Zeit zum Spielen, die Liste der Acts war lang und spannend.

Wir quetschen immer so viele Songs in unser Set wie möglich hinein und reden zwischen den Songs eher wenig, anders als bei Auftritten, bei denen wir gerne ein bisschen plaudern.

Wir spielten unsere üblichen schnelleren Nummern und dazu noch „Dead Ringer for Love“ von Meatloaf, das sich noch in der Anfangsphase befindet. Ich muss meinen Bass noch einbauen und wir arbeiten noch am Gesamtlayout. Aber es macht schon jetzt viel Spaß, und die Reaktionen der Leute sind immer wieder großartig, da man den Song nicht oft zu hören bekommt.

We had to get a promo video out to our musical friend Kev who offered us a potential gig for New Year's Eve, I think I mentioned putting it together in my last post. As those videos are always asked for have I now finally taken on the task of sighting more stuff to send out when needed and today it was a selection of Christmas snippets that we recorded on Sunday at a Pub in Biggleswade.

The pub has recently been reopened and as the week before was rather empty we didn't expect much of an audience again. The pub is somehow long and narrow with the bar on the left as you come in and a dance area at the very back where the sound is amazing! We played there a couple of times and felt rather lonely with the listeners sitting at the other end by the door.

This time we were put in the middle in front of the bar, so we were seen and, more importantly, clearly heard outside on the street, which brought in the odd dog walker and girl group.

It turned out to be an excellent evening and we played more than we were booked for, well into a third set.

We're back at the Pembroke Arms in January.

Wir mussten ein Promo-Video an unseren Musikerfreund Kev schicken, der uns einen möglichen Auftritt für Silvester angeboten hatte. Ich glaube, ich habe in meinem letzten Post erwähnt, dass ich es zusammenstellen würde. Da diese Videos immer gefragt sind, habe ich mich nun endlich der Aufgabe angenommen, mehr Material zu sichten, das ich bei Bedarf verschicken kann. Heute war es eine Auswahl von Weihnachtsschnipseln, die wir am Sonntag in einem Pub in Biggleswade aufgenommen haben.

Der Pub wurde vor Kurzem wiedereröffnet und da er in der Woche davor ziemlich leer war, haben wir nicht mit viel Publikum gerechnet. Der Pub ist irgendwie lang und schmal, mit der Bar auf der linken Seite, wenn man reinkommt, und einer Tanzfläche ganz hinten, wo der Sound super ist! Wir haben dort ein paar Mal gespielt, fühlten uns aber ziemlich einsam, weil die Zuhörer am anderen Ende neben der Tür saßen.

Diesmal wurden wir in die Mitte vor die Bar gesetzt, sodass wir gesehen und, was noch wichtiger war, draußen auf der Straße deutlich gehört wurden, was den einen oder anderen Hundehalter und eine Mädchengruppe anlockte.

Es war ein großartiger Abend und wir spielten mehr, als gebucht war, bis weit in den dritten Satz hinein.

Im Januar sind wir wieder im Pembroke Arms.

I haven't posted any videos lately, although they keep piling up since before my accident in June.

We might have an opportunity for a New Years Eve gig so a promo-video is needed to pass on tonight and as my arm is much better, albeit still a little hurty at times, and the weather is simply rubbish outside with storms rolling across the country, I spent today sighting some tunes we've played over the past months.

It's amazing how quickly one forgets, so some of them where surprising indeed.

The song you are going to see here happened to be an encore of a gig in June at pub in Willian, which was great fun all round; our voices just managed to get through this one.. 😄

This song is one that Steve and have been playing for many years and it's always good fun, but see for yourself.

Ich habe in letzter Zeit keine Videos gepostet, obwohl sie sich seit meinem Unfall im Juni immer weiter anhäufen.

Wir haben vielleicht die Gelegenheit für einen Auftritt an Silvester, also brauchen wir heute Abend ein Promo-Video, das wir weitergeben können. Da es meinem Arm viel besser geht, obwohl er manchmal noch ein bisschen schmerzt, und das Wetter draußen einfach mies ist und Stürme über das Land ziehen, habe ich heute damit verbracht, mir ein paar Lieder anzuhören, die wir in den letzten Monaten gespielt haben.

Es ist erstaunlich, wie schnell man vergisst, also waren einige davon wirklich überraschend.

Das Lied, das Ihr hier sehen werdet, war eine Zugabe bei einem Auftritt im Juni in einem Pub in Willian, der rundum viel Spaß gemacht hat; unsere Stimmen haben es gerade so geschafft, durchzukommen.. 😄

Dieses Lied spielen Steve und ich schon seit vielen Jahren und es macht immer viel Spaß, aber seht selbst.

It's been a while since my last post, just like on my main account, but here even longer.. March! OMG!

So much has happened, we met loads of new people and getting around more and more!

We've got some invites to various places as well, which is fabulous!

Some Festivals are lined, Todd in the Hole, Old Town Live, Woburn Sands and Bedfringe.

The one I was too late for was Goatfest, but the @riverkicks got a a gig there, so I will still take part as one of the guitarists.

We've been trying out new songs for our gigs; fancy duets are not too easy to come by, most are ballads, which are not really material for a Friday or Saturday night.

However... I found one and it's coming along nicely, what you get here is the first ever recording and since then we're going down another step as Steve finds it a bit of stretch up there.

If you heard him before you know that he can sing pretty high, but it appears **that he's no girl after all!** 🙄😄

Es ist so viel passiert, wir haben jede Menge neue Leute kennengelernt und sind immer häufiger musikalisch unterwegs!

Wir haben auch einige Einladungen zu verschiedenen Orten, was großartig ist!

Allerdings ... Ich habe eines gefunden und es kommt gut voran. Was Ihr hier seht und hört, ist die allererste Aufnahme, seitdem gehen wir im Ton noch einen weiteren Schritt nach unten, da Steve es dort oben als etwas schwierig empfindet.

Wenn Ihr ihn schon einmal gehört haben, wisst Ihr, dass er ziemlich hoch singen kann, aber es scheint, **dass er wohl doch kein Mädchen ist!** 🙄😄

Today I'm sharing another song from our set at the Plume of Feathers where we were the featured artists last Saturday.

This is one of our two kids that Steve has [recorded with me before for Soundcloud](https://soundcloud.com/casey_jones1/kids-in-america-4th-mix), the other one being Kids by Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.

Kim Wilde is the daughter of Marty Wilde who co-wrote many of her songs together with her brother Ricky. I have played some on my own and have been revisiting them lately, one being "Chequered Love".

Kim lives locally in Hertfordshire and enjoys gardening after her life in the limelight. Very down to earth if you ask me and something I enjoy too!

Our friend Mark aka Marcus runs a couple of open mics in the area, one at the Coopers Arms in Hitchin, the other one at the Plume of Feathers in Little Wymondley.

At each one he has a "Featured Artist" that gets to play longer than the usual four or five songs. It is usually between thirty and fourty-five minutes.

We had that spot before some time last year at the Coopers, but I was very happy when Marcus asked us again to play a longer set, this time at the Plume. He is very fond of the stuff we do and we're getting tighter all the time. We have new songs in the pipeline too.

This song from 1981 by the Australian band "Men At Work" has been in Steve's repertoire for a long time, but has always been lacking the flute bit. I have a selection of tin whistles that I have played on Irish tunes in the past, so it was an obvious thing to pick one up and join him.

The fact that we mix up things with different instruments always gets an amazing reaction from people, something I hadn't really expected, but I think we have something special going with us singing and playing together that goes down very well indeed.

Anyway, hope, you like this one, it's a lot of fun!

Hope, you're all well.

Today I'd like to share another video from one of our gigs, this time one of the 80s.

We both are kids of that decade and Steve is very much into the music of that time, that's indeed a well known fact.

I find some of the stuff a little too electronic nowadays, but most of the songs can quite happily played acoustically. "Don't You Want Me" by Human League is no exception and has been one of his standard tunes for a very long time, but obviously needs a female singer.

I have had the little uke bass since Christmas and am still practicing, as you can imagine, but catching up fairly quickly. It's a little quite on this recording from about a month ago, but that's a good thing as I was still finding my feet. Now I am happy for people to turn me up a notch to be heard..

We had a gig on Thursday, one yesterday and another one tonight where we played and will play this one. It is usually well received with the right crowd, i.e. kids like us.. ha

Two weeks ago we played at a local pub in St Neots. The Pig N Falcon is a popular music venue with a variety of artists being booked all the time. Friday and Saturday evenings are usually more filled by bands of the very noisy type, but Sunday afternoons are reserved for acoustic acts, which doesn't mean "quite" though, I wouldn't say we are.. lol

Originally I was going to make SOS our first video here, which I think was the first song we ever played together years ago.

However, Steve has done such a great job on the video editing on "Losing My Religion" that I decided to start with it, as it has also turned into our gig opener because doing it first keeps switching instruments to a minimum, this song is the only one he plays his mandolin on. I'm still switching a fair bit between guitar and bass, but we try to sort our setlists to cater for that a bit.

Before I joined Steve he used to record the guitar and the harmony bit as a whole into his loop pedal and tell people it was part of his sound check, then play it back later making it complete with his mandolin.

Anyway, here it comes, hope you like it.
