Steven North's Realm of Music

Society often teaches men a dangerous lie: that to "be a man" means you must silently bleed, endlessly struggle, and put up with being treated like an option without complaint. We confuse self-erasure with bravery.

This song is the story of waking up from that illusion. It is about looking back at a lifetime of people-pleasing and realizing the devastating toll it takes. It’s for anyone who has endured a lifetime of having their boundaries trampled and their "no" completely ignored.

For years, I watched my own joy be systematically removed by the selfishness of others, simply because my boundaries caved in. I chose to sacrifice my own happiness just to "keep the peace." But keeping the peace at the expense of your own soul isn't peace at all—it's a slow, quiet destruction. It costs you your energy, your light, and tragically, it costs you genuine friendships along the way.

It is a brutally difficult lesson to learn that being a doormat doesn't make you noble—it just hurts.

"Enough" is the sound of a spirit finally refusing to be bruised. It is the journey from the exhaustion of endless giving to the grounded, unwavering power of setting a boundary. It is about realizing that true sovereignty means understanding your "yes" is sacred, but so is your "no."

I can love you from the shore, but I am stepping out of the fight.

If you have spent your life folding yourself in half to make others comfortable, I hope this song helps you call back your energy and reclaim your joy. You are not alone. Tell me your story in the comments below.
