In this episode of Stevos Devos, we dive into the story of Jonah, going beyond the fish to explore what this story actually teaches us about listening to God. We set the scene in the ancient world, look at why Jonah ran from God's command, explore his journey from Joppa to Tarshish, the storm, the great fish, Nineveh's repentance, and Jonah's struggle with God's mercy.
But the bigger question is one we all have to wrestle with: What do we do when God speaks and we don't like what He says? We look at how Jonah heard God's voice, resisted it, ran from it, eventually obeyed, and discovered that God's purposes were much bigger than he understood.
We also follow Nineveh's story beyond Jonah and see how Jesus Himself later uses Nineveh and Jonah as an example, ultimately pointing us toward something greater than Jonah.
The episode ends by bringing the story into our lives today: How does God speak to us now, and are we actually listening?
