Throughout Scripture, we’re presented with many accounts of people who walked bravely down the path of God’s will that was laid out before them. But sometimes we can become so familiar with these stories that we lose sight of the fact that each one was pointing toward a bigger picture—the red thread of Jesus Christ! In this live teaching from the 2017 New England Women’s Conference, Janet Speakes explores several records in Scripture, taking a deeper look at the source of bravery for each person in them, and how these accounts paralleled and pointed toward the reality of the coming Savior—showing the plan for mankind’s redemption, woven throughout history.

We are so blessed to share TWO live teachings from the 2017 STF National Conference held in Atlanta, GA!

In the first teaching, Ryan talks about the time we have now in life, and how we must make the most of it. Using concrete and inspirational analogies, he explores the importance of doing our best now, because our time in this life is limited…and how what we do with that time will echo in eternity.

In the second teaching, Jerry Wierwille takes a deeper look into the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25; he demonstrates from the evidence of Scripture how each person is talented in their own unique way, and shows how we can look to this parable for guidance on how we should be using our talents, however great or small, to invest in the future kingdom.

In the early 1900’s, a movement started that is now referred to as “the Word of Faith Movement,” which teaches that if a person has faith, he can be successful, prosperous, and healthy. But is that really what the Bible teaches? In this teaching, John Schoenheit examines how the English word “faith” came into our language, and what it means; why the Word of Faith Movement is so strong, and why faith so often seems to work for people; some of the consequences of believing that our faith makes things happen in the world around us; how our trust in God or Christ does not force things to happen; and the wonderful effects of trusting God and living wisely.

Trying to make things happen by “just having faith” puts an immense amount of pressure on Christians, and we believe that this teaching will help many people to better understand what happens in the world around them, and to be more peaceful in their hearts.

No one would ever think of running a long distance marathon race without going into proper training. Many may desire to win but few do because, as Coach Bear Bryant once said, “It’s not he will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters!” As followers of Jesus, each Christian has a race course laid out ahead of them and to win that race we must prepare ourselves in order to win. In this teaching Dan Gallagher begins by defining what “winning” for he Christian means and he examines five specific areas where we need to have the will to prepare ourselves to win: prepare for good works, prepare to give an answer, prepare to resist, prepare to fight, and prepare to endure. Despite the fact that adversity of all kinds is a part of everyone’s life, people spend a lot of time, effort, and money trying to avoid it all costs. This mindset of ease and comfort can actually limit us in seeing how God can and does use adversity to work powerfully with us. Having a proper attitude during difficult times can help us develop the character of Christ, increase in godliness, and grow more into the image of our Lord.

In this teaching Dan Gallagher uses the forging process of steel to demonstrate the spiritual process of transformation through adversity. We think you will enjoy the many examples and parallels as you learn more about how God disciplines (teaches and trains) us as His children.

As Christians, we want to read the Bible and believe it. But that is more tricky than it sounds. The Bible employs many figures of speech that are not literal; it also contains poetry and wisdom literature that are written in a non-literal way. In the biblical culture wisdom statements were well-understood, but in our much more straightforward and factual writing of today, those statements can be confusing. For example, how are we to understand Psalm 1:3, that for the righteous person, “whatever he does prospers,” when it is not factually correct?

In this teaching, John Schoenheit explains wisdom statements in the Bible and goes over four characteristics as outlined by Dr. Bruce Waltke. Then he shows how wisdom statements can be interpreted in light of the scope of Scripture. We hope that this teaching will help you to gain clarity and confidence in your reading of the Word of God.

The mission of every born-again Christian is to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength, and their neighbor as themselves, and to honor and serve Christ. In this teaching on “Focus on the Mission Possible,” Dave Hanson delves into the Book of Hebrews, exploring the theme of Jesus as the Christ and the reasons why we should spend our energy and focus serving, worshipping, and obeying him, turning our eyes constantly to follow him.
