This was my first time pairing a cigar with tequila and it was a wonderful experience.  The flavor profiles went together very well and the tequila was very smooth and flavorful.  I hope you enjoy it.

The Oliva Serie V Melanio is a 94-rated cigar that has a wonderful smoking profile. It pairs very well with Rye, which is a spicy spirit. The Woodford Reserve Straight Rye not only has a rye spiciness but also notes of apples, pears, and vanilla that make it a very good pairing for the Melanio.

Today's pairing is partially due to the sudden shortage we seem to have in lots of different products.  I was going a different direction with the spirit for today's episode but then find out that it is backordered for a week or more so I had to do some digging and come up with a suitable alternative.  Well.....I managed to do it!  I came out with Balcones Tru Blue 100 Straight Corn Whisky and it was a winner.  The Tru Blue is made from a mash bill of 100% roasted blue corn and is 100 proof.  It was a great match for the Pepin Blue Label.  I really enjoyed this pairing and I hope you do too.
