A week or so late but this quater's Patreon poll episode is here! I'm joined by Adam from The Good The Bad and The Backlog to talk about the Astral Chain from Platinum Games. Astral Chain is an action-adventure hack and slash game that was came out in 2019. Adam and I discuss what charms us about this game, how the story is bonkers but kind of good? and how the gameplay mechanics are deeper than we expected. This was a really fun game to cover for the show so I wanna send a big thank you to the patrons who voted for it!

Episode two of Toriyama month is here and this week I am joined by Marc "Try4ce" Duddleston to talk about the second Dragon Quest game. Coming out less than a year after the original, Dragon Quest 2 was an insanely ambitious game that tried some cool new things and some not so cool new things. Try and I talk a lot about how the game plays and feels, it's story and it's vast open world Does this game hold up all these years later? Try and I do our best to answer that.

You're a guard for the kingdom of Herana, a bloody coup is happening and you narrowly escape through the sewers. You now need to meet up with your family by travleing west to a place called Yerdan. This is Grand Soul Story, a new indie RPG from solo developer Jeremy Reineck, and to break this whole thing down I am joined by my good friend Chris Coplien from the Retro Hangover podcast.

For full disclosure we did recieve review copies of this game for review and overall? We had a good time! We talk about the battle mechanics, the visuals, the music, what it was like playing a game in early access and much more. There is a spoiler section in this episode which begins at 1:29:19.
