NFL Schedule Release Day is here and I’m fully here for it. Schedule placement can make or break a season, and today I break down exactly what to look for as a fan and analyst.
My 7-point checklist for the perfect schedule:
- Bad teams early
- New coaches/QBs/OCs before November
- Proven good teams in December
- No early bye week
- Facing strong teams after they play each other
- Mostly noon kickoffs for rhythm
- At least 2 national TV games
Plus, why the NFL is oversaturating the product with too many extra games (Wednesday Thanksgiving, international slate, etc.) and how it’s hurting Sunday Ticket and fan interest — just like MLB did.
We also discuss Mike Vrabel and the Patriots opening the season at Seattle (a notoriously tough road game for visitors). The NFL isn’t protecting Vrabel — and that says something about how they view the ongoing scandal.
Finally, thoughts on the new season of Netflix’s “Quarterback” featuring rookie Cam Ward alongside Jayden Daniels, Baker Mayfield, and Joe Flacco. When will Titans players start resenting the special treatment?
