This meditation draws out two Old Testament types of Christ from Psalm 78: the rock struck by the rod of judgment that gushed life-giving water, identified by Paul as Christ in 1 Corinthians 10, and the manna from heaven, which Jesus claims as Himself saying 'I am the bread of life.' The psalm warns against forgetting God's provision.

This meditation traces how Asaph intentionally remembers, meditates on, and considers God's mighty redemptive acts, especially the Exodus, to find confidence in present trouble. Because God does not change, what He did in the past assures us of His faithfulness today and foreshadows the greatest redemption in Christ.

"I will build My church." Christ's promise provokes your response.

Jesus' words help you understand the absolute necessity of Jesus's death and resurrection. He calls you to deny yourself, to deny Satan. He calls you to follow Him. Therefore, repent of your sins and believe that He is the Christ, the one who died on the cross for your sin and who rose from the dead for your salvation.

Who is Jesus? The answer to this question is not open to private opinion, or popularity polls. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Repent and believe in Him as your Savior.
