Sunday evening service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, September 16, 1990. The quality of this recording is a bit poor. This message introduces a series of messages from the prophets (on Sunday evenings). The introductory message has four main ideas:

(1) Who were the prophets?

(2) What was their purpose?

(3) The call of the prophets

(4) What motivated the prophets? 

Sunday morning service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, September 16, 1990. This message is about the power of the renewal of the Holy Spirit and is the third in a series on inward renewal (though it is published here out of order). It begins in Ephesians 3, and also references 2 Timothy 1 (as an example of the absence of the power of the Spirit) and several examples of the power of the Spirit from both the Old and New Testaments. It is clear from Romans 1 that the power of the Spirit is a gift of God, received through believing God. It is manifest through holiness and the fruit of Spirit on those who are weak. The message closes with the hymn "His Way with Thee” at around 29:30.

Sunday evening service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, September 23, 1990. The quality of this recording is a bit poor. The first part of the message centers on developing the context of the book of Amos - who Amos was, relevant geography, and the writing style. The thrust of Amos's message was to the people of God with the call of God and a purpose to make God known to the world. If we aren't careful, we, like those receiving his message, can rest back and become 'comfortable and fat' until we are only going through the motions of worship.  The second message from Amos was on October 7, 1990.

Sunday morning service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, September 23, 1990. This message from Grandparents Sunday is full of personal stories. There are Scriptural examples of those who received blessings, passed down because of the faith of previous generations. The primary text is the Hebrew Shema, Deuteronomy 6:4-9. 

Sunday morning service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, September 9, 1990. The "Throne Room" refers to the inward man, in this second sermon from 2 Corinthians 4. Particularly highlighting v. 16, there are five hindrances that sidetrack us in the throne room so that we are not focused on Christ: a myopic vision of the world; anything less than complete obedience; neglect of God's Word; lack of involvement in ministry; and lack of focus on eternity. These hindrances can cause us to tend toward hypocrisy, not out of a spirit of rebellion, but out of a spirit of substitute or compromise. 

Sunday morning service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, September 2, 1990. This message from 2 Corinthians starts with comparing the outward and the inward, and how we can be renewed daily on the inside - the place where we worship God (our "throne room"), where we guard against hypocrisy, and where we surrender to His will and ultimately focus our lives on Him.  

Sunday evening service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, August 19, 1990. This message from 1 John focuses on the family of God. The message of God's holiness is interwoven into His family. There are three divisions in this passage of Scripture, about the "Holy Family" (family of God): 

- the Source - God's plan from the beginning for His family to reflect His character (from Genesis 1:27)

- the Force - God's love binds His family together (from 1 John 3:12-15) 

- the Course of God's Family - God's family is characterized by living a holy life (from 1 John 3:6-8) 

Sunday morning service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, August 19, 1990. This message encourages believers to fully embrace and live out creation theology; not simply referring to the creation of the world in Genesis, but allowing God the Creator to make things new. 

Sunday morning service at Broken Arrow (OK) First Church of the Nazarene, August 12, 1990. This message begins with a description of a shield in Biblical days. He follows that with a series of questions about Paul's testimony and experience, leading to the heart of the message, "What does the shield of faith protect?" Ultimately, it is not our possessions or circumstances, but our soul.
