    This time, talking with Paora Tapihana A.K.A - Paul Tapsell!  Paora is a Professor and Researcher at Takarangi Research where they are focused on social science research with an aim to support local indigenous communities (tribal marae) and their re-engagement with ancestral resources to improve Māori well being nationwide.

  • A history remembered - Motu Bridge Pou

    In this episode of Stirring the Pot we’re talking with Nick Tupara, Kevin Alvie, Adam Furniss and Tim Blackbourn.

    Nick is an amazing Māori artist well respected in Māori ringa toi. Kevin is a Project Manager at Gisborne Engineering. And from the WSP team - Adam is a Senior Engineering Geologist based in the Hawkes Bay, and Tim a Senior Structural Engineer in Auckland. 

    Together their expertise have combined to deliver Te Whitinga o Tamataipunoa – a 8 meter tall monument that is part of a project by the New Zealand Transport Agency to replace the original one-lane Motu Bridge.

    On top of this, the project has recently been honoured with winning the small project award at the recent SESOC conference.

    In this episode of Stirring the Pot we’re talking with Nicky Smith who is a Chartered Professional Engineer at HEB Construction.

    She has over 25 years’ experience in road maintenance and construction. Her role sees her manage construction projects, work in Council and provide technical engineering guidance as part of the team at HEB Construction.

  • Bringing robotic automation solutions to industry
    In this episode of Stirring the Pot our Industry 4.0 Research Engineer Holger Heinzel chats with Verbotics Director Nathan Larkin to explore the world of robotic automation.

    Together they delve into the details of what  is possible in robotic welding, the exciting new developments in this space and insights into how companies can get started on their robotic welding journey.

    This falls out of a long-standing relationship that HERA has with the University of Wollongong (UoW) who are one of the leaders in welding automation research.     Verbotics is a recent spin-off out of UoW’s research activities which is focused on making robot programming easy by automatically programming your robot for welding to eliminate manual programming.
